Durant is four years older than Davis. In no scenario does that gap equal a second career. He's also got durability issues that Durant doesn't have.

I'm more comfortable working with actual numbers, such as 21 and 25. So argue this, Davis was  the 4th most productive player last season per game, eighth overall (since he again failed to play 70 games). He's not even a lock to be the second most valuable fantasy player next year.

I was under the impression Davis is like 20 and Durant is like 27ish. Like Durant has had a 7 year career out of 14 and Davis has had a two year career out of 14.  No?

"-Ish?" These guys aren't Dikembe Mutumbo; they have U.S. birth certificates. I told you their ages. Anthony Davis is 21 and KD is 25.

I believe Eja was saying that's what he was thinking... not continuing to assert sort-of-ages.

And yes, these are things we can know:

I don't have a too many problems with this deal if Jayhovaone decides to stick around for a few years. But a lot of GMs (a lot, not all) beat a hasty retreat when they realise they are looking at few years of rebuild/or when they realise they can't realistically compete for the top prize...

This is what's keeping me up at work.

2) The new GM wanted to be taken advantage of, there is no reason to suspect collusion or anything of the sort.

For clarity's sake, while every manager is free to vote their own conscious. Collusion has never been the codified standard and it wasn't the reason for our first veto. Nobody is suggesting anything untoward has happened.

I think you guys are making a lot of assumptions about eja (and jay) without hearing the entire story. Unless we hear otherwise, this was just two bored GMs hammering out a preseason trade.

I think in fact, Champ's version of events is 100% correct.

6) the fact that jay hasn't shown up to defend his trade is alarming

This is why I'm leaning towards calling for an up and down vote. I'm hoping we'll hear from Jay once he's off work though? I wish I could give him more time, but we're working with a narrow window.

I would think it would still be a 24 hour thing though, meaning 24 hours from when it was posted originally. Since that was voted down. Right?

I'll defer to GC, but I'd encourage you not to get technical, because in that case, you'll need your trade for Toine's Boys 2015 2nd to pass its one day review starting tomorrow I believe - the first day 2015 picks can be traded? - since it's included in the Anthony Davis trade.

What do you think of JGod's suggestion?

KD turns 26 next week.  He has played 7 years. I had them both figured for productive 14 year careers. So instead of Davis is 1.75 Durants or 1.82 I just went with two. GC is right I was just saying what I was thinking. Geesh. Tough crowd.

I'm just tweaking you on a questionable argument. I almost took your post down point-by-point because I'm a crank. Think about that. Anyway, Anthony Davis turns 22 in March so where does that leave us? I'm not good with fractions. Where's 1.75 from?

Now given the lengths that you've gone to making your "Two Durants" defense, I'm committing both you and Jay to 7 (Durant) to 12 (Davis) more years, so we can know if you're vindicated by history. (Do you see where I'm going with this?)

Wow lot of stuff going on here before a basketball is even bounced...

Just a quick 2-cents:

Unless Jay is absolutely resolute on seeing this deal and his team thru long-term, why not just amend the deal for (as was said by WW) the "good of the league."  Something like swapping out the 1st round pick that Jay is sending out with a 2nd round pick instead.

I know that would be a tough pill to swallow for Eja, and I normally despise the idea of intervening in deals, but maybe if we allow Jay to keep that pick he'll be more intent on seeing his rebuild thru since it becomes a somewhat more viable path.

I'd  feel better about the deal if we go with this "for the good of the league"  suggestion of changing the first rounder Jay gives up.

I think we all would, but it doesn't seem like EJA is touching that one.

TODAY!!!!  TODAY!!!!   TOADY!!!!    FROGGY!!!!

From the Constitution:
------------------
II. Rookie Draft
12. The rookie draft will be held in mid-September on the CelticsBlog.com forums. Any GM unable to participate can send the commissioner or a proxy an ordered list of picks to choose from.

13. Teams have 10 minutes to make 1st round picks; 5 minutes to make 2nd round picks.

14. The time listed next to each pick in the draft thread's original post is the time the pick is due. Any GM who fails to post a selection by the deadline and who has not sent the commissioner a sufficient list of preferences will be assigned the highest remaining ranked draft pick based on the results of the actual NBA draft from earlier that summer.
------------------

Only players who have declared for the 2014 NBA draft are part of the eligible pool for today's proceedings. If they declared for a previous year, or didn't declare at all, these guys aren't draft eligible (but are eligible free agent pick ups, as soon as Yahoo! enters them into the system).

FWIW, i'll  update the draft table (shown below) on the 1st post in this thread periodically throughout the draft (i.e. not every minute). You can also find PM links to all 20 GMs there for all your trading needs.

I believe MOST of Texas is in the Central Time Zone (1 hour behind EST). El Paso is 2 hrs behind.

It's 9:56 on the official draft clock. Check that vs. what time your clock says in Texas.  :)
