Well, this is my point. I'm not arguing they haven't had some battles to win their rings, my point is more:
1. If Duncan, Parker and Ginobli were in their prime years, I think SA sweeps them 4-0, maybe 4-1. Duncan in his prime (28-32) would just dominate them. That would be a legit challenger in my book. SA is at the tail, tail end of a long run - they won rings 6-7 years ago...
2. I see Indiana as a good team, not a great team. They may or may not "get there". Now if you had the Indiana team with Kevin Durant on it - now we're talking about a legit challenger to Miami.
3. In 2008, Pierce and KG were nowhere near their prime. Pierce was maybe in the last year or two of his prime, but KG was definitely sniffing his last gas. It was only because both players were so good and also so clutch in different ways, that they still remained so competitive. If Pierce and KG were 26/27 to 32/33 from 2008 until now, they woudl absolutely dominate Miami as well.
Miami could barely get past completely banged up Celtics' squads in the years following the 2010 finals run. Not only were KG and Pierce clearly declining, the rest of our team was often very banged up or we were missing key players - usually young guys - not nagging injuries like everyone has - but guys "out".
I just don't see any true, in their prime players / teams to seriously contend with Miami. Which leads me to my general sentiment James and Wade - they're front runners and history has shown that when they're facing legit prime players with grit, they have never once come out on top.
