I know Brandon Bass has been involved in bigger trades but how about sending Bass to NYK for a Iman Shumpert who would give us a nice option as a backup SG or SF or he could even start of we decide not to retain Avery Bradley... Salaries match and Shump seems like a good defender and he can light it up when he's feeling it... Meanwhile the Knicks get a solid controbutor at PF who is 20x better than Bargani for half the price... Bass is also expiring so if the Knicks decide to blow it up he could be an interesting player for them...

Shumpert and Bass's salaries do not match. They throw-in Tim Hardaway, Jr. and a pick then I'll think about it.
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

don't see the Knicks doing this.  would rather try to move Bass for someone better than another bench-quality player

Lol....let's see if we can send Bass to the Pelicans for Anthony Davis while we are at it.

it's not that farfetched.  Bass and a pick was a going rumor/proposal for Asik who's a more valuable player than Shump.  if Bass-centered deal was in play for Asik, I'd rather make that move than acquiring Shump

However, you also had to throw in a pick in addition to Brandon Bass.

Also, how come this never came to fruition? How come Houston never agreed to it?

I also doubt it. Shumpert is a pretty valuable player when he is healthy.

There is no way that this deal would happen straight up and no chance in h-e double hockey sticks that we would get Tim Hardaway Jr and a pick (which the Knicks don't really have) on top of it.

That 2028 1st rounder could end up being a valuable one.

I'd rather have Bass.  Shumpert seems to be one of the more overrated players that has popped up in trade rumors over the last year.  I like his toughness but I don't think he is even an average player, which Bass is.

While this trade presumably helps both teams, the problem is neither team really finds the other guy all that valuable. Remember how NYK thought that they could get Faried straight up for Shumpert? I don't think they would be satisfied with Bass as a replacement.

Yeah, I found the Faried for Shumpert rumor was ridiculously lopsided in favor of NY.

By the way, I think Rondo and Shumpert would make a good backcourt.

I think those two would complement each other better than Rondo and Bradley do.

So back to the OP's idea, this actually isn't a bad deal for either team.

Knicks could use another big man with Stat always hurt, Bargani being a total bust and KMart going a little past his expiration date.
