I say Ray, KG and Paul are all welcome back.

Must be another heck of a draft next year, chock full of franchise cornerstones. Tank city again?

No reason to bring him back, because in a few years his career is over. Not sure if Ray will even agree to return, he didn't leave the team on very good terms and i dont think he will give up contending for a title.

Stranger things have happened. Maybe for Allen 2 or 3 rings is enough.

It wasn't bc of the money Allen left in the first place.  Definitely a possibility of winning another ring was a key reason why he did. But also imo it had to do with issues he had with Rondo. Rondo's incapability to make peace and move on.

Sure, it had to do with issues he had with Rondo. And Bradley. And Doc. And KG. And PP. And Danny. Did I miss anyone?

Well...if O.J. Mayo is to be believed the deal for him and Ray was a done deal and he was fine with coming to Boston... Word came down to him it was an issue in the locker room that killed the trade.

If K.G.,Paul and then Doc to Danny to Ownership nixed it with any thoughts Ray would return...then Ray jumps to the new arch rival run by the old arch rival..
That would explain Doc's very upset demeanor after Ray left (assuming he went to bat to nix that trade at the behest of Paul and K.G.)  would go a ways to explain why K.G. lost his # and Paul was about as P.C. as could be.
I'd add Danny and Wyc and co to your list.

Is this a joke?

I would rather they brought back Allen Ray.

yes or no?
As one of the ushers maybe. Hopefully he wouldn't leave for a better or similar usher job for less money though.

Is this a joke?

I'm sure not.

Rather it's meant to be provocative, especially on the heels of the recent articles about KG not letting go of his intense dislike for Judas.

+1 to you triboy...... I still like venting any time I can about that traitorous dog.

That comment don't make no sense, Tim.  Boston was on a 16 win pace with Rondo leading the charge this season.  Last i checked, KG and Pierce are playing in the 2nd round of the playoffs.  Pierce would still be this team's best scorer.  KG would still be this team's best defensive player.  Ray has been a consistent bench performer for 2 years... he's averaging 16 points in the second round.

If this was another tank year, it wouldn't make sense bringing those guys.  I'm saying if we shock the world and make some big splashy trades (Melo sign-and-trade?  Kevin Love?...), I could see us definitely bringing Pierce back... and I wouldn't mind signing Ray.

Now of course, it's pretty unlikely we make a big splashy trade.  I don't think we'll be a contender next year.  We should be improved though. I imagine we'll land someone solid with the #6 pick, we'll fill one of our holes with a trade (something like Asik)... maybe Pierce will come here to wrap up his career.  Could see us winning 38-42.

I can't believe that this is a topic of discussion with all due respect. The only reason to ever mention Allen, Pierce and Garnett is in a debate about which numbers should be retired. The Celtics are trying to build a team of 20 somethings that can be a deep playoff team for an extended period of time. Think younger please.

This post reminds me of your predictions of how the Steve Nash Lakers were strong title contenders.  PP is more efficient, but he doesn't score any more than Bradley or Green. KG might be our best defensive big but he only plays 20 minutes a game and on offense he scores about like Rondo did when he was coming back from a knee injury. Ray averaged less than 10 ppg a season this year. Oh, and none of them are going to be as good next year as they were this year.

The Nash/Kobe/Howard trio was pretty dangerous on paper.  I'm glad they didn't live up to their potential :)

I think if anything, this season proved that without KG and Pierce, we were a bottom 5 team.   Obviously as they older they get worse.  I'm not saying we'd be title contenders with them.  I'm saying that if we made some splashy trades, filled some holes enough to be a playoff team... Pierce and Ray would look nice on our bench...

And I agree with you that we had guys who had more points than Pierce this year, but Pierce remained the more efficient/better scorer this season.  Had he stayed in Boston, he'd more than likely have lead us in points again.

yes or no?

If Kate Upton was looking for a date would you mind taking her out?  Yes or No.

And what does Rondo being traded have anything to do with Ray Allen?  Does not compute.

what does that have to do with rondo being traded or not?

LOL, exactly what I was thinking!!

We have Bingo!  This is the same guy who suggested we trade 2 1st round picks and salary filler for Pau Gasol and the corpse of Steve Nash.
