With the team getting a sf rim protector. (Trade jg or move him to sg).

If plan A of getting a starting center/pf rim protector fails , can you see danny trying out a starting lineup of sully, ko, sf (wiggins/gordon for example) and obtaining a rim protecting center to come off the bench (like stiemnsma).

It would be interesting to see what KO and Sully(iq plus skill duo) can do after a year of proper conditioning and improvements.

KO and Sully will start until we get a legit center that can protect the rim and rebounds consistently.

I'd love to see KO and Sully start together. However, I only see them starting next season if we end up with Gordon and start him at sf. If we end up with Randle, Vonleh, or Embiid someone in that group is getting traded. If we get Parker or Wiggins and don't trade Green then one of them will probably start at the 4 depending on matchups. If we get Parker or Wiggins and trade Green then I guess they could all start though rim protection would be non-existent.

Then again maybe we're trading for a center like Asik? Crazy to think how many directions this team can go in in the next few months

Kj mcdaniel, wiggins or gordon would really help provide that above the rim presence if the team decides to start ko and sully

Depends on who they draft but I wouldn't be surprised.

If they end up with a wing, then I'd do it.  Hopefully, showcase the two of them for trade purposes then try & move one down the road as part of a bigger trade package.

Long-term, I don't think this team will be successful starting the two of them.

a sf rim protector.

Mine too, there are SFs who block shots but that does not make them rim protectors in the team D sense.

Are lebron or durant considered rim protectors?? Not in the traditional sense. But they do make it hard for opposing  players from driving in whenever they feel like. Or make them think twice at least

Answered your own question, there.

I suppose it's possible though definitely not the preferred path.

For example, Rodman provided a lot of disruption around the rim from the SF / PF position. He altered shots in the paint and/or at the rim by either trying to block them or perhaps equally so because people were nervous of going airborne in the paint with him around. This is a role I could see Aaron Gordon possibly playing - minus the physical threat aspect - doesn't strike me as that type of personality. So yes, it's "possible".

However, as others have mentioned my preferred path would be us getting lucky with a top three pick and either taking Embiid or if we take a wing, trade for Asik if we don't.

Scenario 1 (we get lucky, get a top three, Embiid's available, his back is Ok enough...)

Embiid (2nd?) / Humphries / Faverani
Sullinger / Olynyk / Bass
Green / Pierce / Crash
Bradley / Stauskus or Young (17th?) / Johnson
Rondo / Bayless / Pressey

Maybe we make another move with some of our vets?

Scenario two - we end up with the sixth pick:

Asik* / Faverani / Iverson or someone else
Sullinger / Olynyk / Adrienne Payne (17th pick)
Green / Gordon (6th) / Crash
Bradley / Stauskus or Young (17th) / Johnson
Rondo / Bayless / Pressey

* Humphries' expiring, Bass and a future first for Asik

Again, we probably make other moves with some of our vets

Or how about this?

Asik* / Faverani / Iverson
Sullinger / Olynyk / Free agent
Green / Wiggins (2nd) / Crash
Bradley / Pierce / Johnson
Rondo / Tyler Ennis or Elfrid Payton (17th) / Pressey

* Humphries' expiring, Bass and  future first.

I hate the idea of KO and sully on the court at the same time. unless one had the ability to play SF(which they don't).

neither are a center either. sully is just not as bad there as anyone else on the team. just a bunch of guys playing out of position on this team which I can't stand.

I want a 7' center who rebounds and protects the rim...if he can hit a 17' jumper then great, a 6'9" - 6'10" PF who can rebound, play D, have a back to the basket game and be effective in the high post by passing or shooting. a 6'9" - 6'8" SF who can defend his position on the perimeter and the ability to pick up a SG and not get embarrassed in the process, who can dribble, pass, hit open shots, and not be afraid to drive to the basket. a 6'7" SG who does it all and keeps turnovers down to a minimum, athletic and uses it on both ends. a 6'6" - 6'5" PG who has pass first mentality, can keep dribble alive, penetrate, slash, play pick n' roll on both sides. hit open shots(sorry rondo).

I know i'm probably unrealistic. I just can't stand playing a bunch of guys out of position because you're lacking legitimate players for the appropriate positions.

I like the idea of Sully and KO starting together more than starting either Bass or Faverani with either of them.

If the Celtics draft Embiid, he probably isn't going to be ready to start. We will see if the Celtics can pull of a trade or sign a defensive center this off season.

Barring a trade of either, or drafting Embiid, I suspect that both will start the season in the starting line-up.

I think there's a solid chance we could see that happen, especially if Danny drafts a project center like Nurkic or Capela and there isn't a low-cost deal for a guy like Okafor or Asik available.

+1. Lots of pressure for ko and sully to come in great shape next season. I think they will and play great for us next year
