I love how "nuanced opinion" becomes "politicking"
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

The context of the thread was that Glenn Rivers did not treat Mrs. Sterling in the same way as he treated the incident relating to Donald Sterling. Even when he knew all along (which to all of us is already common knowledge - that Mrs. Sterling is similar to Donald Sterling) what color Mrs. Sterling was.

In this matter, IMHO Doc Rivers was acting like a politician. When the matter of Mrs. Sterling being a racist similar to Donald Sterling was brought up, he changed his opinion on Mrs. Sterling.

In politics, there are no permanent friends, only permanent interests.

Not going to lie -- I was shocked when this wasn't an Ogaju thread.

Why would I ever be disappointed in Doc. I had this guy pegged from day one. He is an opportunist.

Don't be such an apologist for him.

People have very short memories so God gave us sigs to remind them ;D

The whole episode with Clips /Doc began just after Celtics eliminated and Stephen A Smith spread a rumor that was laughed at by everybody.

Doc gets letter from Wyc and co clarifying he was expected to fulfill his contract.
The highest paid coach in the league says he may have seen the letter...doesn't doubt he got one....he just never opened it ::)

Don't let Doc surprise you....again.

Just remembering almost a year ago now .....

Doc and the Clips vetted each other. This was public news in the area (L.A.) and the league.
Lawsuits,courts,lawyers....this isn't secret on the downlow kinda stuff

well you know hindsight is always 20/20.

Mighty hypocritical to slam the man when you are still taking his checks. The NBA needs to come clean. Do the owners own these teams or not. If they do then you cannot strip them off their property rights without due process of law. If they do not and the league is just a veiled monopoly with 30 caretakers, then this arrangement violates antitrust laws.

Who owns the teams?

It sure does not sound like its the owners. Whatever commercial enterprise would you have someone you pay 7 million a year run your business while slamming you left and right on the news. And you still get to cut him a check for his troubles.

Not being an apologist, just saying that I don't see the cognitive dissonance many of you do.

Actually, unless I read it all wrong, he said that he realized that Shelly Sterling had been through a lot, too, then -- later, after being asked a different question from a different reporter -- said that he wasn't sure everyone would be on board with her continuing to own the team.

Again, those two statements aren't incongruous with each other -- at least, not to me.
