clearly the celtics are a bad team, and i would not be surprised to see them as a bad team next season as well...though that is not a lock.
the challenge for ainge is not to simply get the celtics in the playoffs. proof of that is the ditching of KG and pierce and any hopes of reaching mediocrity this season (i.e. 8th seed in the playoffs.)
look at the nets. they have a better supporting cast for KG and pierce than the celtics would have offered. and the nets are struggling mightily in the first round. i think the celtics would have been bounced early from the playoffs.
that is not ainge's goal or desire.
the challenge for ainge is to make the celtics a viable contender for a championship. the suggestions at the start of this thread would move the celtics forward, but not beyond mediocrity.
that is, no matter how much lipstick you slap on that pig, at the end of the day it is still a pig.
