Ditch Anthony, Babb and Bogens....completely useless.

Sign a legitimate "big guy"...   stop skirting the issue,  we are not going anywhere without one.

Most important...hire a truly defensive minded assistant. this team, at the present time, doesn't have a clue.
I'm sure Mr. Ainge will make it a bit more complex than this!!!

Because of the no-quit attitude the C's had this year and the time they will spend together in the summer and preseason in October,  I really see them coming out fast and hungry this coming season.  GO GREEN!!!

"making the playoffs" doesn't separate us from the pack. and really isn't much of a goal. in the east making the playoffs is a possibility for anyone. even us with the way our team is constituted right now.

in this league you want to be really good or really bad. if you're in the middle it's pretty much purgatory.

clearly the celtics are a bad team, and i would not be surprised to see them as a bad team next season as well...though that is not a lock.

the challenge for ainge is not to simply get the celtics in the playoffs. proof of that is the ditching of KG and pierce and any hopes of reaching mediocrity this season (i.e. 8th seed in the playoffs.)

look at the nets. they have a better supporting cast for KG and pierce than the celtics would have offered. and the nets are struggling mightily in the first round. i think the celtics would have been bounced early from the playoffs.

that is not ainge's goal or desire.

the challenge for ainge is to make the celtics a viable contender for a championship. the suggestions at the start of this thread would move the celtics forward, but not beyond mediocrity.

that is, no matter how much lipstick you slap on that pig, at the end of the day it is still a pig.

I disagree with this statement.  I think that having a "good" mediocre team, like, for example, this year's Hawks, Grizzlies, or Wizards, can be very exciting.  Also, the notion that mediocrity is a condition that can't be improved upon in a short amount of time is an absolute myth.

Thanks for sharing your opinion.  I agree that its about titles, but I don't agree that any season where we don't win a title is necessarily a lost season. 

To me, "exciting" is a team that plays good, sound, unselfish, team basketball.  I can get behind a team like that, even if their chances of going all the way are slim.

A vast majority of the NBA champions from this decade--the Celtics, the Heat (both times), the Lakers (the second time), the Pistons--went through mediocre seasons in the year/s immediately preceding their title runs.

Mediocrity, despite popular myth, is not necessarily a sentence of "purgatory" for an NBA team.

Yeah, one of the best/worst things about Boston sports fans is the collective amnesia to anything before the "title town" boom of the 2000's over the last 20-ish years.
