Jordan has always been a super athletic player who dazzled with his dunking ability, and put up pretty good numbers while he was on the floor.

But this year he appears to be on another level. His rebounding and defensive help intimidation around the basket are at an elite level this year. He is absolutely killing it against the Warriors in the playoffs. I have yet to see how he does defending an all star center this year, and hope to do so.

Chris Paul and Blake Griffin are MVP calibur players, yet it is amazing to see how different the team defense is when Jordan is in the game or not. He might be even more valuable than Chris Paul on that team. Part of that last statement speaks to the Clippers' lack of a good back up at the 5, admittedly.

He is due for a big pay raise a year from now. How much will the Clippers be willing to pony up? Perhaps he is another great summer of 2015 free agent target for the Celtics. I wouldn't have said that 2 years ago.

I remember not long ago the rumored Jordan, Bledsoe, and picks for Pierce, KG, and Doc was much maligned here.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Well the rumor was that Doc was adamant that Bledsoe and Jordan stay when the Celts/Clips trade was at the climax of negotiations. If I remember correctly the rumor was that Doc said he wouldn't coach the clippers unless they kept DJ because turning him from a boy into a man was on the defensive end was key to their success.
He saw something he liked.
I was a fan of the KG+Doc for DeAndre and a pick trade but I'm happy the way it worked out for us too, because I'm not sure how motivated he would have been on this Celtics squad. He'd probably have gotten us an extra few pointless wins which I didn't want either with Rondo out.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Hopefully a couple of those Brooklyn picks will yield us some young all stars.

The dramatic improvement of Griffin and Jordan speak a ton to just how good a coach Doc Rivers is as well. I wonder if Jordan would have made this leap without Rivers or another great coach.

His play has made me feel validated for having drafted him with my third pick in the CB Draft to pair with LeBron and Ibaka
2013 CB Draft Champions*: Minnesota Timberwolves

I believe it's because they refused to include an extra pick.

Chris Paul was going to leave. They had the balls to play hard ball. Good for them that it paid off.

We still ended up with a first for a coach (who, by the way, was going to leave anyway).

I remember the Jordan bit for Doc + KG (the rumor was Pierce would be bought out and sign for the MLE), but how would Bledsoe be involved?  Wasn't he a free agent?

80% sure Bledsoe's contract ends this year.

maligned??? who maligned that... DeAndre Jordan has always been a force in the league. Clippers ponied up once for him, they will do it again.

He's also playing 50% more minutes than he did before.

Maybe that union can happen next summer!

I would be very tempted to overpay Jordan in order to lure him from the Clippers. I would make a big offer to M. Gasol as well, and sign the first one who bites. A lot can happen during these next 2 years or so.

His rebound rate is up. He jumped from a consistent 10-11 rebounds per 36 each season, to 14 per 36 this year. He looks better on defense too.

Before this season, i thought he coasted by with his talent, and could drift on defense. Now he is locked in.
