We could realistically overtake Orlando by the end of the season.

You can have any one of the Embiid/Wiggins/Parker (Yes he might not declare) trio. Do you take one of them? Or do you trade down with another top-3 team if they're really set on one guy and take whoever's left?

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
With the way the season had been, I'd be happy with a top three "silver lining" pick.

The #1 overall would be the cool whip on top of the double chocolate with chocolate chip cupcake.

I take Wiggins, I think.

Stash him behind Jeff Green and AB, if AB stays, move him into the 2-3.

I think I'd take Wiggins, and then I'd listen carefully to any offer from 2 - 4 that nets me Embiid plus other stuff.  This is assuming the Celtics are comfortable with Embiid's health report, of course.

If you really think about it we don't know enough to say. Embiid could be seriously red flagged and Parker might not declare. If those two things happen Wiggins and Exum are the only two guys left from the top four.

I'd love Wiggins. He'd be a GREAT SG.

If Embiid is healthy, I would take him without thinking about it.

Obviously you listen to offers.  I mean, there are certainly offers that could make me move from 1 to 3 or 4, depending on health and who enters the draft.  I don't think you trade for a vet, because there aren't many vets that might be traded who are under contract for more than next year, and you can't guarantee to keep them from walking (and extend-and-trades are virtually not an option in the new CBA).  I do think that evaluations will begin to coalesce around which player is #1 overall (and I do think that player is Wiggins), such that other teams will be willing to move up 1-3 slots to get him.  Then Ainge, should the miracle happen and the Cs win, can decide if it's good enough.  Say we're 1 and Philly is 3 -- I'd do #1 for #3 overall and Noel in a heartbeat.   I'm not as sure about  #1 for #3 and #9-12 (wherever New Orleans winds up), unless Philly really wanted the guy I had third on my board, so I know I'd be guaranteed one of my top two choices.  (Again, I don't think that's happening, since I think there will be a consensus #1 amongst teams, although probably not amongst the media, since it pays to be divergent with your opinions).

If the medical exams bring up no long term issues with Embiid,  I think you have to take him.  He would probably pair really well with Brad & Rondo.

Wiggins if there are red flags on Embiid's health.

I go Wiggins.  Embiid second if his health seems ok.

Parker I think is the surest thing who'll have the best rookie year, but he's in the Carmelo/Pierce mold, while Wiggins and Embiid have a chance to be transcendent-type players.

At first I thought this question was meant to be what we would do in real life.   :P

Of course you'd have to listen to all offers from other teams for the #1 pick, but if nothing is there I think Wiggins would be the best pick. He could potentially be an amazing starting SG. He has all the right physical tools, he is good on both sides of the court (unlike Parker) and doesn't have any injury history. Overall, I think he has the highest floor (and possibly ceiling) out of the top 3 picks and would be the safest pick.

Trade it for Noah and Taj Gibson...not that CHI would do that.

My point is that I'd rather Danny do a "Summer 2007" rather than a brick-by-brick rebuild.

Championship City, baby....I'd rather reload as fast as possible.

I'm sure the Lakers will be trying to shake every tree and put players around Kobe for him to win his 6th ring...no brick-by-brick rebuilding for Purp and Gold for next 2-3 years, I bet.

Now you're speaking my language ;D

We had our one year of failure or should I say "rebuilding." Now, let's get it out of the way and return to being the most prestigious team in the NBA.

Save the rebuilding for the Bucks, Bobcats, Kings, Raptors and Jazz of the world.
