His explosion isn't there right now.   When one looks at our team, our best guys are at best third or fourth options on a good team.   Rondo isn't an alpha dog scorer.   Bradley and Sullinger and Green would be best at third or fourth options for a good team.   Hard to be a super passer when your passing to guys who can't shoot or create their own shots or are too passive.  These guys all have got better  this year but we need a serious talent infusion.  Some of these guys like Sully seem to think they are alpha dogs.   If I see him try to drain another three when a game is on the line only to brick it, I think I will get sick.  But they are not alphas.   Green could be, he has the ability, but can't harness it consistently.

Rondo can only do so much.  He can make his team mates better to some degree but these guys have finite ceilings that are not super high.

Rondo will playing for a contract soon. If he tanks now it would severely hurt his value.

Rondo is coming back from major surgery.  He hasn't played in all of the games since he came back.  He had his minutes limited for a number of games he played this year.  The supporting cast is really young, and honestly not very talented.  DA set this team to be what it is right now.

From what I have seen, Rondo seems to be slowing rounding into form.   His shooting has been up and down, as his ability to get to the rim.  It is what should be expected when coming back from an ACL.  Even with our roster, he is still averaging almost 10 assists a game.  But you think that those shouldn't count, or should count less because they are coming from jump shots?  Did you see our team for the last 6 years?

I don't think it is fair to throw him out a couple months after coming back from ACL surgery.  Maybe his previous year(s) of performance should be factored in before dumping him like a bad contract.  Honestly posts like this are starting to grind on me.

I'd like to see you tear your ACL and then try and get back to you're day job or whatever it is that you do for a living and be the best that you can be 100%....

That's all.

I think sometimes we forget that these Athletes are human too..

you are a true homer fan. Because you see guys like Westbrook after two surgeries , still coming back and playing almost as he was never injured.

It's the lack of effort that is a problem with me.  It's the not playing 2 games in a row by now that is a problem. He has stated he is close 100 percent himself, yet he still doesn't play back to back games. And its his choice, its been already said by Stevens and Ainge.

His defense is astrocious and causes everyone else to look bad, bc they have to try to cover for his mistake and get burnt by their man.  He also rarely goes end to end to get that transition basket that you need a few times a game to help the team out

Again i'm not asking for him to try to reinjure himself. But he seems to play like a guy who has won it all, who is considered a star and doesn't need to do the small things anymore. A guy who is playing for a contract instead of the well being of the team. A guy who select passes the ball instead of letting other guys also pass the ball and let the offense flow.  Maybe bc he is a poor shooter and now can't drive and finish, he has to hold onto something and needs to pad his stats somehow

Overall, since the start of last season, he has helped the team lose.  He has to play better , thats the bottom line. Starting next season, i hope fans here don't write in anymore excuses bc it's tiring to hear. Just do it and help/put the team in the best position to win.

He's taking it slow he's recovering, and the Celtics were losing before Rondo came back. The offense flows much better when Rondo is running point. And judging from how the team responds when Rondo is on the floor he has a positive impact.

I agree with the OP.  I don't think Rondo's been playing well.

I think he'll play much better next year, though.
Depends what team he's playing for and who his teammates are.

I think he's played pretty well.  Still getting his stats.  FG% down, but that was expected.

Oh no he's helped a blatantly tanking team lose. Boo hop  :'( :'(

Westbrook came back playing hard, as he has to. He plays for a contender, he has to push it. Derrick Rose came back and hurt himself again, all the while looking a step slower.

Just because they're millionaire athletes doesn't mean they don't take time to recover from an injury.

I am ALL in favor of trading anyone on this team including Rondo to get what we need.  I've said this for a few years, No team needs a superstar PG, just a serviceable one.  Rondo would be great on a team that has superstars surrounding him, sure, but it's clear he's not a difference maker and a developing team.  So why not trade him while he still has some star aura and get a pg that can run the system and dish the ball.  Flip him for a cheaper PG and/or a young up and coming superstar.  The focus has been, for too long on Rondo.  He can't win on his own, nor should he have to.  The top PG's in the League..Parker, CP3, Deron Williams, Westbrook, all have won how many world titles?  Of that group, only Parker was ever the difference maker in a title game, and it still did nothing.  We need a cohesive team, not one alleged superstar and some parts.  I think the best way to accomplish that is to get rid of the one.

Rondo isn't playing a winning brand of basketball right now but that doesn't bother me. I'm sure that if these games meant anything, he would be.

Rondo+Stevens+Ainge are all on the same page.

Ball doesn't move with Rondo on the floor, and his Bigs are constantly in foul trouble because he lets the guards in the lane at will.

I wonder how much Stevens likes watching it.

I know I dont like watching it.  I think Stevens is giving him a pass this year, but this isn't what Stevens wants.  That's Doc Rivers ball...stand around run the clock down for 15 seconds then pass.  I'm tired of it.

My son and I were talking during the DET game  and we could see us landing a PG in the draft and moving RR for Monroe.
