From our friends at Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician (Syracuse Orange Blog):

Quote
Ah, Fabricio de Melo. you came into our world with so much promise. You left in a blaze of poor grades and way too many nights at Chuck's. Your post-Syracuse Orange career has been an…adventure, to say the least.

And that way before you cursed out your coach during a game.

I'll be shocked if Fab Melo is on the @TexasLegends after today. The former 'Cuse player just called HC Eduardo Najera the B word & P word.

Cont...Fab Melo got in Najera's face. Eddie told him to hit the showers.

I'd love to think that the B-word is actually "Barbyque" and the P-word was "Peachfuzz" and that he thinks both of those are curse words thanks to some frat bro who was messing with him one night. Given Fab's academic prowess, it's not out of the question.

Melo, the 22nd pick in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics, is averaging 5.4 PPG, 3.8 RPG and 0.8 BPG in 20 games with the Texas Legends this season. All of those numbers are way down from his production with the Maine Red Claws last year.

Fab is, as of this moment, still on the roster. We'll see how long that lasts. Until then… Fab Melo: Texas Legend.

Looks like his NBA and NBADL days may be over. What a waste of potential.

Stay in school, Fab.  You're going to need that degree

I always said when I left the Celtics, I could not go to heaven, because that would

What a dumb"butt" this guy is.
Wow.
Waste of a pick.

Could have drafted
Myles Plumlee
Tony Wroten
Arnett Moultrie
Perry Jones 3
Marquis Teague
Draymond Green
Quincy Acy
Will Barton
Kyle O'Quinn
Robert Sacre

Bleh.

Lucky for him, he can still find a job in China or Korea or somewhere, block a ton of shots and make a decent living still

Worst pick ever?

He wasn't even the worst pick from that draft.  Royce White, a CB favorite, has him beat, picked 6 spots earlier.  Jared Cunningham, picked two spots later, has also done nothing and was traded by his original team and then released by his new team before year 2 was out.  And then there's Arnett Moultrie, whom the Sixers likes so much they traded the future pick we now have, and has also done nothing, and now been suspended.  Kendall Marshall was picked 13th, and given the same treatment (traded to get rid of his contract and then released), although he's performed better since signing with the Lakers.  Marcus Teague was salary dumped by the Bulls earlier this year.  Austin Rivers has been abominable, picked at 10.  Meyers Leonard gets DNPs and garbage time minutes from his draft spot at 11. And Thomas Robinson, picked at 5, is on his third team seeing limited minutes.  Fab was certainly a bust, no denying it.  But he is one of four players to be released before the end of year 2 of his rookie deal, and was the third of those four picked.  And several other players picked 10 or more spots ahead of him have done nothing aside from collect larger salaries.  Fab was certainly a bust, but two years in, and it already looks like that draft was very hit or miss.  Danny hit on Sully and missed on Fab.  Life goes on, but it's something to remember as we count our pong pong balls.

Well said. TP.

It would have been nice to get Dreymond Green or Festus Ezeli or Plumlee but plenty of teams passed on them, too.

But it definitely seems to still be a deep solid draft. There were a few busts but the number of late firsts and second rounders succeeding seems pretty high.
