Worst pick ever?
He wasn't even the worst pick from that draft. Royce White, a CB favorite, has him beat, picked 6 spots earlier. Jared Cunningham, picked two spots later, has also done nothing and was traded by his original team and then released by his new team before year 2 was out. And then there's Arnett Moultrie, whom the Sixers likes so much they traded the future pick we now have, and has also done nothing, and now been suspended. Kendall Marshall was picked 13th, and given the same treatment (traded to get rid of his contract and then released), although he's performed better since signing with the Lakers. Marcus Teague was salary dumped by the Bulls earlier this year. Austin Rivers has been abominable, picked at 10. Meyers Leonard gets DNPs and garbage time minutes from his draft spot at 11. And Thomas Robinson, picked at 5, is on his third team seeing limited minutes. Fab was certainly a bust, no denying it. But he is one of four players to be released before the end of year 2 of his rookie deal, and was the third of those four picked. And several other players picked 10 or more spots ahead of him have done nothing aside from collect larger salaries. Fab was certainly a bust, but two years in, and it already looks like that draft was very hit or miss. Danny hit on Sully and missed on Fab. Life goes on, but it's something to remember as we count our pong pong balls.
