I'm still pondering whether I really enjoyed watching the game against the Toronto Raptors last week in their home arena. I'm not talking about the level of play of either team... it was an interesting game. Rather, I am literally writing about how I felt about "watching" this televised game with the white-like floor as the background color.
The game seemed to have a different feel to it from most that I've watched at the Garden and/or at most other arenas. For instance, the players seem to jump out from the screen while the game was being played. And, it seemed clearer. Yet, on the other hand, my mind felt like it was watching an optical illusion. No, I'm not referring to the painted Raptors signs at the end of the court. And, the court seemed a little too bright. Maybe I should have adjusted my TV screen brightness settings? Although, that is not a problem with any other shows I watch.
This white-like background sure played tricks with my mind. I wasn't (and still not) sure if I like this different viewing experience. Yet, the longer I watched the players move about the more I thought, maybe I could get used to this?
Yes, I know it would be a sacrilege for the Cetlics to even consider installing a similar court. However, with NBA games being more of an entertainment venue than a sporting event maybe some day the owners might consider altering the court's background if it might create greater fan interest and revenue.
I only mention this because on Sunday, when I watched the Celtics on their home court I kind of missed the Toronto game experience. (Or, maybe I didn't? LOL) I guess my mind will get over it...just thought I'd share my view. Maybe some of you had similar or differing opinions.
