Rondo: MIP? (Most Intense Player)

Not judging from an actual "basketball" stand point, as we ALL know people have different opinions on Rondo, but if you were an outsider looking in..........Would you vote Rondo the most "Intense" or even "Dedicated" player in all of NBA. The Dislocated elbow incident alone would leave him in this debate (which is way more intense than the more recent), but then to get 9 stitches on a losing team in a losing game, and to come back and only say how bad the loss sucks......

Couldn't think of another player who would do that. Just using James as an example, but had his nose broken, laid on the floor for 10 minutes, and missed the rest of a huge game. Trust me, I would have done the same thing, and am NOT knocking on LJ for doing that at all. It hurts! But would anyone vote for someone else for most INTENSE player?

Disclaimer: "Intense" might not be the best word for this, but only thing I can think of at the moment, and you all know what i mean!

Again I realize their are different levels of an ACL tear and NOT knocking Derrick Rose (All thought I will knock on how horrible he played, when he played lol) (double parenthesis? shuda prolly used a bracket. 100% off subject, if D Rose comes back 2 the bulls for playoffs kiss it goodbye) (Triple parenthesis for the lulz) but go Youtube D-Rose ACL tear, and then Youtube Rondo's ACL tear. I like it. There are not many players with his intensity left in the league (at least people who are relevant/stars).

He has the same mentality that KG has/had when he plays. Sort of like Ron Artest, Jordan, Kobe, and even Bird/Russel. The I'll do anything to win attitude - 'we are mortal enemies when we step on the court'.

It's a dying breed. Just think if he was the leader on a contending team.

We need that going forward as Danny restocks this roster.

These two quotes pretty much sum up why Rondo is my favorite player in the game now.

I've noticed Rondo's 'inner KG' for a while now.  I think it was inevitable, with Rondo's prickly personality, getting the opportunity to play with KG would be the best thing ever for his career.  Rondo learned how to properly funnel that intensity.

He really did learn from the best.

He certainly is tough, though.  The dislocated elbow is stuff of legend.  Rondo's elbow probably elevates him above Larry Bird in the '91 playoffs and Paul Pierce coming back from getting his teeth knocked out.

Kobe , kg, noah are intense. Rondo is not as intense. He rarely shows emotion on the court. What a poor leader has been also. Chris johnson missed one of his passes earlier in the game and he starts shaking his head, yelling at him , instead of remaining positive and encouraging

  Just curious, but how long have you been following the Celts for? Have they ever had a good player that you wouldn't call a poor leader? Someone who never shook their head or yelled at a teammate and were always encouraging? Do you think any of the leading Celtics were like that, or is Rondo just the latest Celtic in a long line of poor leaders?

If that's your standard for being a "poor leader," then many of the greatest NBA players in history have also been poor leaders, including the three guys you mention above.

Yes he is, by a wide margin.  This also remind me of what Jeff Green said about him chewing them out in the locker room for shaking hands with opponents.

sidenote: on D-rose's ACL, i don't see how you could knock him for going down and staying down. As you said, there are different degrees of ACL tears. You might as well knock Pierce for being carried off in a wheelchair in the 08 Finals.

Every competitive player is going to get occasionally miffed at their teammates.  The momentary stuff doesn't bother me.  It's when things turn into chronic issues that is more worrisome.

KG is widely regarded as the spiritual leader of our last title team, and yet it didn't stop him from getting on guys:

  Again, though, if you can name a single player on the Celts that never looked dejected and never yelled at his teammates it will just mean that you didn't follow that player too closely.

Was saying exact same thing. Not a knock on Rose but more of a point out how Rondo is. And I don't think anyone doesn't knock on Pierce for the wheel chair incident lol.

Are there any more Unknown players that are like this? Obv KG, Kobe etc, but a lesser known or overlooked player.
