Wiggins will be a star in the NBA.  I think the hype was plenty warranted.  College ball is different from the pros.  He'll flourish when he finally gets into the NBA in 2015.

I have no doubt that Andrew Wiggins will be a very good NBA player, but I do have my doubts that he'll be a transcendent superstar on the level of someone like Lebron James, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Kevin Durant or Magic Johnson.

And, after all, that was the original point of this whole "tank fest" idea.  It wasn't to get a guy who might make a few All Star games and have a solid pro career.

Can you honestly say that from what you've seen that you are convinced that he'll fit into that former category of players?

I think Wiggins will look better in the NBA since he'll have a pg, something Kansas lacks.

Wow, Wiggins only scored 4 points and only took 6 shot attempts!?

It is embarrassing enough to be knocked out ... but to be knocked out while doing so little? Yuck.
Thought the same when I saw the statline haha!
The only problem that I've got with Wiggins is that he tends to "disappear" during plays. He needs to become more aggressive and ask for that ball lol.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

sounds like hype was overblown if he needs another year in college. The hype was based on him being ready now.

Who are you talking about? Parker I assume? Because that was never the hype on Wiggins.

Regardless, even the best players in the NBA have bad games. Even rookie of the year winners have bad games their rookie seasons.

And the reason for them to move to the NBA is that the NBA is much better than Colleges as developing young players. If they want faster development (while getting paid), they should enter the draft.

faire enough, but the point is that none of these players seems to be the transcendent player worthy of NBA teams losing an entire season for.

The only player who seems to fit that role is Embiid and that may only be because we've seen so little of him on the court.

We can only wait and see on that point. We really need a lot of involvement in player development before we can reasonably project those things. There is a good chance that there are multiple guys who will be considerably better than Green, our second best player.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'losing an entire season for.' The worst teams in the NBA were going to be bad regardless. They lack talent. That is the nature of sports leagues. For every win, the has to be a loss (unless it is the stupid point system in hockey). If you are one of the worst teams, it would be foolish to start making moves to improve from 4th worst to 7th worst unless those moves involved acquiring young talent that would be with the team long term.

In other words, you are misrepresenting the view you disagree with. 6 more losses when you are already a bad team is not throwing away an entire season.

Regardless how the draft order goes 1 though 5......I have no idea at this point ....but I still would take Embiid or Parker myself

I still see the the top  guys. Still being picked ...nothing has changed .....money is still green and they all are guaranteed top 10 if not top five

Wiggins , Embiid , Parker, Randle , Exum....

They will be picked ahead of everybody else ..

No reason for these guys to give up being PAID to learn and hone their skills

They all will be drafted.

Hope we tank ...sit Rondo and pick Emiid or Parker .

Let's see:

Kevin Durant and the '07 Texas team got upset in the 2nd round (while Greg Oden went to the championship game).
Tim Duncan (as a Senior) and the '97 Wake Forest team got upset in the 2nd round.
Shaquille O'Neal (as a Junior) and the '92 LSU team got beat in the 2nd round.
Michael Jordan (as a Junior) and the '84 UNC team got upset in the Sweet Sixteen.

But Pervis Ellison, Ed Pinckney, Keith Smart, Anderson Hunt, Bobby Hurley, Donald Williams, Ed O'Bannon, Miles Simon, Jeffrey Sheppard, Mateen Cleaves, Sean May, and Wayne Ellington all looked pretty darn good in the tourney.

Tourney performance probably isn't the greatest way to judge NBA potential.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I don't think an NBA team should be able to lose 23 straight games without trying to lose. If they are truly that bad maybe we need a relegation system. That will stop teams from tanking that is for sure. Lets have NBA Div 1 and Div 2. With relegation and promotion, I doubt we will see teams lose 23 games in a row in that scenario.

good point, and neither is high school play -- and that is the point.

In this thread you will find people overreacting to one poor game in an otherwise great season for both Parker and Wiggins.

True. It's pretty ridiculous.

People were trashing Parker the other day too.
