What I hate the most when reading this blog is not player bashing - It's people who get mad at other people for player bashing.

So I'm going to take it one step further down the crazy train. I am officially bashing people who bash people for player bashing.

This is a blog that we come to in order to talk about one of our favorite things. The Boston Celtics. With that comes love, hate, and many other awkward emotions. Right now the Boston Celtics are just not that good. Face it, we stink. It's not always a sunny Sunday when we're losing every game.

So ranting (as I am now) and 'player bashing' are just natural emotions that come with the lives we've chosen as avid Boston Celtics fans. This blog is our one escape to feel just a little bit better.

(Feel free to bash any player you want in this thread... it will hopefully be a safe haven from all bashing of player bashing)

I support this.

In a season like this, it's totally understandable to want to bash the players sometimes.

Heck, the team's record is an indication that there are probably at least a couple of guys getting regular minutes and getting paid significant money who are worth bashing.

Personally, Jeff Green is the guy I love to hate.

Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I don't get why people feel so attached to a team made up mostly of sitting ducks and ringers.  I expect the team to look completely different next year.  Why do I need to blindly support every future Houston Rocket and CHarlotte Hornet on this team?

What are you being so defensive about? Nobody is telling you what to do or how to feel.

I agree.  Players are open game.  Fellow forums posters are not.  Behave accordingly.

If I refer to Josh Smith as a player that only an idiot GM would sign to a big contract or trade for, am I clearly implying that any poster who wants to acquire Smith is an idiot and, if so, am I misbehaving?

If you want to bash people that's fine, doing it in a thread when you're complaining about others bashing posters is a little ridiculous though.

Yeah, I think what's highlighted here is the silliness of bashing other posters in the first place.  Sometimes we could all benefit from remembering the context.  We're all Celtics fans, and we're talking about entertainment.

Sullinger might be a tad overrated in this forum.  There aren't enough threads about his trade value.

I'm sure it was implicit in Jeff's response, but "bashing" posters isn't allowed around here.  Civil and constructive disagreements are welcome.

As for bashing players...  So long as it's on-topic, criticizing players for their play is fine, and should be expected.  There's nothing disloyal about criticizing a Celtic, even if he's a fan-favorite to others.

Where I think things get tedious is when people use any opportunity they can to bash a player, whether or not it's relevant to the topic at hand.

Bass is my go to guy to bash. Taking too many min from Sully and Olynyk.

I loved Bass his first season here, when he was the sober, workmanlike replacement for Glen Davis and all he had to do was come off the bench for 20-25 minutes, hustle, and hit mid-range jumpers.  When he moved into the starting lineup along with Avery, the team put together a stretch of really impressive play and I liked him even more.

The past couple of seasons, I've gradually soured on Bass.  He's meant to come off the bench.  He's meant to be on a team where not much is asked of him.  He can and will shine in that environment.  The few things he does well, he does really well, and it's rewarding to watch.  But on this team, he's simply out of his depth.

Sullinger is everyone's feel good player. Much like Ryan Gomes was in 2006-07. People could disagree about Al because of his inconsistency, they picked favorites and not-favorites in the Bassy-Rondo-West bloodbath at the point. Gerald Green had his fans and people who weren't, but everyone loved Gomes, cuz he always played hard, and was a but of an underdog, plus when he didn't have a good game, there was usually someone who had a worse one.
