Want nothing to do with the playoffs. We need a high draft pick in order for this rebuild to work properly.
Danny doesnt care for a high pick from what it looks like. I trust what he is doing. He has got us a championship from ground up already once
what are you talking about dude??? Seriously, "ainge built a championship from the ground up" yeah ummmm howd he dp that? OH Riggght with a high lottery pick! Seriously dude making the playoffs would be a disaster. And yes its all about 18. If i wanted to just watch fun basketball and not care about championships id be a grizzlies or suns fan. Idek how someone can p---es your opinion at this point in the season.
I don't care about championships beyond the fact that winning one would be the result of the C's winning - which is one of the definitions of fun basketball.
Should I stop being a C's fan?
So the only difference between '08 and '10 to you is one game in the W column? I can't really understand that mentality.
I do feel that there's something to be said for getting to watch a fun, entertaining, successful team. Just because the season doesn't end in a championship doesn't mean it's a failure or a waste of time.
That said, I think it's far more exciting to follow a team when there's a sense that they have a realistic shot of making a run to a championship, or are on a clear path toward reaching that level of competitiveness.
Following sports, aside from the pure entertainment value of watching a game being played at a high level, is about exciting storylines. There are storylines worth following other than the "championship run" narrative. The Phoenix Suns this season, for example, as a surprise team full of underdogs playing a fun style, are providing some great storylines for fans regardless of whether or not they make the playoffs.
Still, in my mind -- and I think most around here agree with me -- the best storyline is the championship one.
It would be nice if the NBA didn't work in a way that actually made the "surprise underdog season" story counter-productive to becoming a team aiming for a championship. Then we could all cheer for the team to surprise and win as many games as possible without feeling like we were compromising the bigger, eventual goal of seeing the Celtics become a championship team. But the NBA does work that way.
