There's so much pressure on picking #1.  What if you pass on Parker to take Embiid and he turns out to be the next Kwame Brown?  Or what if you pass on Parker and he turns into Gerald Green, but Embiid turns out to be the next Hakeem Olajuwon?

Now you know how Michael Jordan, the GM, feels!  LOL  I dunno, maybe it's better to pick #2 in this year's draft!  What do you think?

The opposite is just as likely, I would think. Sure, there's less pressure, but choosing first means you make no compromises. You know who you're picking first; it's not "if we can't draft player x , we will pick player y." You've made the decision, and you have no one in front of you draft wise that can waver that.
Practice? Whatchu talkin about practice?

i trust danny will make the right decision. i've never questioned his skills when it comes to the draft. i don't follow college ball so i dont know enough about these kids, and yeah im gonna call them kids even though im only 2 years older than them. personally i would take parker just based off everyones description of him.

If we get the 5th pick, and Embiid, Parker, Wiggins, Exum are gone, i want to see what Danny will do

This could make some ppl here happy bc this could also mean trading the pick for a vet player

If you're concerned about that then you shouldn't be a GM. And a bunch of jobs should be on the line here too. if you get a dud at one and a bunch of other teams get all stars behind you that is completely unacceptable.

Nope. Because there's always a chance the team with the number 1 pick could always draft the player you think will fall to you at no 2.

It happens. Say hi to the Portland Trail Blazers.

My hunch is the only player that Danny badly wants in the draft is Jabari Parker.

Hence, good chance he trades the pick.

The real question is, what will the return be?

Doubt it will be 1 or 2. And the pressure will be there for both.
Either way the best scenario is to have pick #1 and trade it (with some more assets) for Kevin Love (if he agrees to re-sign), even if the guy you could have drafted end up being a superstar(which is not an 100% lock, heck not even 80%), you are still not in a loss or would look like a fool because you acquired the best PF and best rebounder in the NBA, a guy that can pull 30/11+ a game right now, for sure.
Goal for next season: Top 2 seed.
Say goodbye to: Turner, Zeller, Sully.

No.  There will be a "best" player in this draft, and I want Danny to have a crack at drafting him.

I trust Ainge picking the right guy first more then trusting another GM to pick the wrong guy first.

I like this approach in, say, fantasy football where I'm pretty uncertain of how the top 2-3 guys will perform but I just know they will all be studs and if I get the lower pick, that means I get the better pick in the next round.

That doesn't apply here though.  I want Embiid.  I think he'll likely be gone at 2.

Hate to say it but I think other teams are so bad and trying to tank while we look like we are trying to win every game. Right now I see us being the 7 or 8 worse team, and that is where we will pick. Not sure what that will get us, but it could be a wasted year.  :'(

Hope Danny doesn't get a Bill Walker, Gabe Pruitt, Darko Milicic, Patrick O'Bryant, or Anthony Bennett type of player from this draft with that top pick.

LOL Bill Walker and Gabe Pruitt were second round picks.  Yeah, I'm sure hopefully that Danny is aware enough not to draft a second round talent with the #1 overall pick in the draft, or even the #2 for that matter!

I dunno.  I don't think there's a clear cut #1 yet.  This is not like the Duncan draft.  There could be 2, 3, or even 4 all-stars in this draft class.  We just gotta make sure we make the right choice!  Would hate to draft the next Kwame Brown.  LOL
