would be interesting to see if Embiid's back issues scare the first several teams off, and the Celtics' crack medical stuff, having gone through the Sully success, convince Danny his back is going to be fine, and Danny grabs him.  I can dream.

Hate to say it but I think other teams are so bad and trying to tank while we look like we are trying to win every game. Right now I see us being the 7 or 8 worse team, and that is where we will pick. Not sure what that will get us, but it could be a wasted year.  :'(

It's looking much too much that way. As of this morning the C's are in a three-way tie with Utah and (ugh!) the Lakers for fourth. They're only three wins out of what would be a three-way for sixth and four from a two-way for ninth!

I'm feeling the Lakers winning fourth--and a brutal 10-year run of Exum as their All-Star!

Admittedly, I don't know the first thing about college basketball.

But, I get the feeling that Embid could end up being another Greg Oden.

I'd rather draft Parker, Randle and Wiggins before I draft Embiid.

And this is coming from someone who believes we BADLY need a center.

Always better to have the #1 pick. We're gunshy from teh Oden/Durant thing, but overall look at #1 vs #2 through history.
2013 was weird.
2012: Davis vs MKG
2011: Irving vs Williams
2010: Wall vs Turner
2009: Griffin vs Thabeet
2008: Rose vs Beasley
2007*: Oden vs Durant
2006*: Bargs vs Aldridge
2005: Bogut vs Williams (Bogut way better, but both screwed that draft up)
2004: Dwight vs Okafor
2003: James vs Darko
2002: Yao vs J Will
2001*: Kwame vs Tyson
2000: Kenyon vs Stromile
1999: Brand vs Francis
1998*: Kandi vs Bibby
1997: Duncan vs Van Horn

Now, you don't always get the best player with the #1 pick, but I wouldn't be praying for the 10th pick in a draft because that's where Pierce and George were taken. But overwhelmingly the #1 pick is much better than the #2. Just don't mess it up. Interestingly, the major mess ups above, 1 was injury related, and the other three were taking Bigs without "traditional" scouting data (High school, italian league, and a 22 year old Jr who had 2 bad years of evidence then suddenly put up great numbers at Pacific).
