Unlike the year duncan was avail (needed 1st pick before drastic drop) or durant/oden draft year (top 2 or drastic drop in talent)

The 2014 draft is deep and franchise calibre talent avail up to the 5th pick. Top 5 likely will be Embiid, Wiggins, Parker, Exum, Randle(not exact order). As long as we get a chance to draft one of these talented youngsters would you be satisfied unlike the past draft failures with the inability to draft Duncan or Oden/Durant?

Or would we absolutely need a top 3 pick(wiggins, parker, embiid) ? Or you see nice talent a team can build around up to the 8th pick (including smart, vonleh, gordon)?

This is going to be a very important draft for us. From the lottery position results day to the actual draft night, its going to be uneasy/exciting times.

Really need to get into that top 3, I believe there is a difference between Parker, Wiggins, Embiid and the rest.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

Naw, after a crappy season like this I want to "win" the lottery and move up to at least one of the top 3 slots.

I don't think not doing so is a disaster or anything, I'd just like a win this season beyond Rondo's return to the court. Because right now, that's the only win I see this season.

Wouldn't matter to me if we got the 16th pick. I am still saying the guys people expect to come out, won't be. Better believe if they don't I will be here to say "told you so!" I bet the better draft will be next season.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I believe it is possible to build a contender without a top five pick.

Top five would be fine.  The top five guys in this draft all have serious potential.

Exum and randle imo are at the same level as embiid, wiggins, parker. The world vs usa game and or U19 tourney performances plus excellent combination of physical tools and skills should put them in the same league

Plus they are each having excellent years so far and without them on their teams kentucky for example would be in trouble.  Harder to tell with exum bc he is playing overseas but he looks legit

My expectations are low so no biggie really for  me.

Kinda just want the lottery to happen already so people can stop whining and talking about our chances of getting so and so pick.

Agreed.

It's not quite the end of the world if the Celtics end up with #4 or #5 but I really want a top 3 pick and would be disappointed if the C's didn't land there.

My problem with Randle is his wingspan.  I mean just look at him here:

I'd much rather have Vonleh.

Its 6'11. Thats ok for a pf. He is built like a tank and is in great shape also.

Whats the issue for exum? He is too tall for a pg? Too quick?

That's a picture of Kelly Olynyk. Not sure how you got that confused. . .

yes, I'm happy with top 5, provided Danny NAILS the pick and we make out better than the Lakers.

Gordon or one of these later lotto guys could wind up being top 5 talents in the long run, so as long as the C's management is convinced about who they like, I'm good with top 5. There will be plenty of options to draft or trade down and get who they like.
