Just assume the pick in number 3. I would trade that pick for Cousins, Aldridge or Love. I saw Gasol and Noah mentioned. Gasol would be a no and Noah a big no. Nice player, but not a star.

I guess it depends on people's appetite for risk. I wouldn't trade the pick, unless it's for Durant or Lebron, and OKC and Miami would be crazy to do that.

Honestly, I would rather trade Rondo than the pick. It would be nice to see a youth movement backed up by steady vets (Jeff Green? Joel Anthony?). For example, I think the Thunder matured when they got players like Perk and D-Fish. Those 2 aren't the biggest on-court contributors but I think in terms of intangibles, they contributed a lot.

What if the team with the fifth pick was so desperate to move into the top three that it is willing to offer that pick plus two future completely unprotected firsts (2015 and 2017, with the trade not being made official until after the Celtics pick to satisfy the Stepien rule)?

Are you willing to take that deal, do you need them to add a little more, or is there nothing they can offer you?  What if the other team has the sixth pick or the eighth pick?

I'll trade a top 3 pick if you get me a LeBron James-type of player. NOT Blake Griffin, NOT Zach Randolph, NOT Rajon Rondo, NOT Marshon Brooks...but a LeBron-type caliber.

No. I keep the pick.

The only stars potentially on the block for a pick would be Carmelo Anthony or Kevin Love.

These talented rookies come with lower contracts than the all stars, leaving the celtics with enough cap space to run down a proven star in a couple years.

Then you get to have both the young stud and the established star. That to me is worth the risk.

Absolutely keep it. God do not trade for Love or Melo. You need to build a team from within that's how OKC has done it and they'll win a title soon enough.

There's no evidence that they will. They had to bail on one of their homegrown talent and haven't been back to the Finals since.

The only team under the last pair of CBA's to win a title with homegrown talent are the Spurs and the Pistons. That's 33% of Finals victories for teams built from the ground up - and the Spurs, who account for four of them, have one of if not the best power forward of all time as a building block.

Hardly a surefire method.

The only way I'd consider that is if we had the third pick and Ainge was sure that Exum would be there and he was convinced that Exum will make a better pro.  Anything past the 5th pick?  I laugh, politely say no, and hang up the phone.  You almost always go quality over quantity in the NBA.

Instead of trading a top 3 pick, trade Rondo and other assets if need be to move up in this draft to get two top prospects.

Good question. I would offer them Rondo for those picks, and any other players not named Sully. I'll take back any non-cap killing salaries too so that we can gear up for 2015 FA (which i assume is in Ainge's plans).

If we are able to straight up draft jabari or embiid id do it. If they are both gone or embiid stays in school id trade it in a heartbeat. Wiggins looks like jeff green 2.0 athletic but has questionable heart...no pun intended...ok maybe a little.

I would send Danny Ainge a pipe bomb if he ever considered a trade of that nature (but seeing Granger is a sixer we should be safe).

Depends who we getting back...like I always say, I rather have a proven NBA player than a unproven rookie who may be a flop
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin
