Rondo should get suspended/fined.  He gets paid a crap load of money. At least come support the team.

He was there every road trip even before he came back to play, it's not like he hasn't been around the team supporting them . Maybe a small fine , but this is very minor IMO.

It's the guy's bday , he wasn't going to be playing the next game anyways , and the key point , Ainge and Stevens want the team to tank, it was a key loss against our competition ;)

I like how no one cared when Rondo voluntarily joined the team as a pseudo-assistant coach when he was able to stay back during his rehab. Or is that also an example of him being a bad leader because he didn't stay back when he should have?

Sitting back and mulling the reaction to this story if Jeff Green missed a trip to Sacramento - from the front page of this blog to this thread - puts a smile on my face.

In the meantime, lose, baby, lose.

no a bad leader is skipping a game when you are captain and not telling anyone?  Is that even debatable?

He didn't "skip" a game because the organization already gave him the game off for rest. It's the whole formality of telling them he was staying in LA with his family (which he should have done). When Rondo doesn't play back to backs he's not on the bench anyways and none of us would have even known that this was problem if the Herald didn't say anything. This is a story because a.)they have nothing else to write about for the C's b.)It's Rondo c.)It's Rondo

The story makes it sound possible that team rules didn't make it clear that Rondo needed to get explicit permission in this situation.

I could see it possibly turning out that Rondo talked to an assistant about it, but didn't talk to Ainge or Stevens.

Sure he did. Just because you don't suit up doesn't mean you're not required to be on the bench.

I guess it's however you want to look at it. I don't know the team policy (I'm guessing you don't either) so I really can't say. I don't think they're required to sit on the bench because when Doc would give rest days to Kg or PP they were not on the bench.

I really don't think it's a big deal, given that Rondo voluntarily took a quasi-assistant coach while he was recovering. So unless something changed dramatically in his relationship with the team brass recently, I view this as an unpleasant breakdown in communication more than anything else.

That's how I view it. Also, there's only so much tanking they can write right about before it gets old. This is a new story and something new to talk about for today.

So was everyone this upset when PP and KG weren't on the bench for some of their DNP 'rest' days during previous road trips?

I think this is completely a non-issue.  The only reason DA said anything about it is because of the media getting involved.

Pierce and Garnett didn't go AWOL.
