- We’re surprised the Cavs did not moveLuolDeng. He’llbegone on July 1, no later than a minute past midnight, and despiteanAchilles injury that prevents him from practicing on most days, he’ll be high on everyone’s free-agent list. The Mavs, Lakers, Celtics, Magic and Charlotte are all interested. Why not stay in Cleveland? Kyrie Irvingdoesn’t make players around him better and Dion Waiters is a me-first player.

It's from the new york daily news so who knows, but I don't see why Danny wouldn't have interest. He has been through all the playoff battles, is good on both sides of the ball, and isn't nearly as inconsistent as Jeff Green. Still only 28, so he should hold up until his next contract is over . If we can add Love or Marc Gasol in the next few years, you have the core of a contending teams, just need to add some shooting/scoring .

There is no way he gets the max, maybe 12-13 mil a year.

Luol Deng would be a really good replacement for Shawn Marion in Dallas. I like that idea.

We already have close to twenty million dollars wrapped up in small forwards for the next two years.  I doubt we're going to add to that (unless Pierce wants to finish up in Boston).

Sign and trade deng for Green ,bogans(non-guaranteed) and clippers pick (top 10 protected)

It depends on who we draft. If it's Parker or Wiggins, sorry, no Deng you. If it's Randle, who knows. Danny wants to have a solid direction by next year. My guess is he wants to do a 2007 re-do. So maybe Deng has a chance.

That would be a very Mark Cuban move. But he might not be their first choice.

I put the Celtics' interest at 5%.

Heard they're missing a defensive center.

Ugh.

But Dirk, good-Ellis and Deng would be sick.

i' ve always liked deng. but the only way i'd want him on this team is if jeff green and Wallace weren't here and we were contenders. otherwise getting him would be a waste.

not much point in acquiring Deng.  he's a good player but not going to put us near contention.  I see him as a more-consistent Green.  He doesn't seem to have Green's extremes in highs or lows but averages about the same.

rather get the big pieces in place first than sweat the fill ins like Deng

Mostly agree, though he's more than a "fill in" - he's a two-time All-Star and IMO a significant upgrade over Green. He is certainly a #3 guy at best though on a championship team, and I'm on board with your point about timing. He's also injured right now and/or struggling...not the kind of guy you lay out big money to extend.

The other issue to me is that he's also a bad fit with Rondo/Bradley - it'd leave us with no good three point shooters at the 1-3 positions which is a disaster in today's game. We'd then need to move Bradley.

If we could swap him for Green and re-sign him for roughly the same money (maybe with one more year), I'd say yes. But that's almost certainly not going to happen - he declined 3/30 with the Bulls.

I like Deng. BIG upgrade over what we have now at the 3.

I would DEFINITELY go after him this summer.

If the plan next year is to have another "rebuilding" season, interest in the Celtics will be at an all-time low and I think Danny/Wyc know that (or they should.)

Maybe in cities like Charlotte or Milwaukee you can get away with a 10 year plan….not Boston.

Sign me up for that. I also believe using Green as part of a S&T deal with Deng would be a great idea.

As others have said, i bet the celtics interest is there but small. Other pieces would have to arrive first or in conjunction. Deng is an excellent complimentary star player though, and does more than jeff green.

I have concerns that he already has 10 years of experience under his belt, and he has missed a fairly significant number of games.  I bet he has played his last all star game.

Wouldn't it be interesting if Green ends up being part of a deal (AGAIN) that brings the key pieces in for a championship team. Lightning striking twice.   ;D
