17 and 5 in a competitive game is not bad. Maybe not what people hope for, but not bad. Sully played poorly tonight and nobody bats an eyelash.
Except Sully's still basically a rookie. There are no expectations.
There's hope and expectations for JG.
Time to move beyond calling Sully a rookie.
Well, considering his rookie year got cut short, he'd have had a year of NBA experience right about now, give or take.
This is an up-and-down year for Sully. As a young player going through so many changes, I personally give him a lot of leeway. He even injured his hand this year.
But with Jeff, in my opinion, if he really, really wanted to, he could take all the shots he wants.
Of course, it's not
just about scoring. He could (and imo should) also grab more boards, be more aggressive on D.
This is a year where JG has nothing to lose and everything to gain. He has the keys to the car. Yet he hasn't taken advantage. That's what I think.
There's still half a season to go, though, and he's added a little pull up jumper to his game.
Hmm? I wouldn't call this having a bad game per se. Scored 17 points on 12 shots. Got to the line plenty of times, only missed 2 shots from inside the arc. Simply had a bad shooting night from behind the arc. It happens. Grabbed 5 rebounds, 1 steal, zero turnovers.
Scored the bulk of his points in the first. Then completely disappeared. Then proceeded to score like 5 points on free throws at the end.
For those who want him to take the next step, this is disappointing. imo he's looking like an option 3 than an option 2.
JG just scores when he's hot now. But if he'd assert himself a little he'd be so much better.
Jeff green disappeared in a game?? Hard to believe isn't it?
he had an average green game I think. Nothing terrible.
If you wish to moan about poor shooting, look at rondos 7 for 22. Rondo is back!
You know, I've never been one to complain when Jeff takes "too many shots". Because he only ever takes more shots when he's hot.
I don't think JG has gone 7-22 this season. Because he always seems to stop at 5-15.
I'm not advocating that he jacks up shots, though. But if JG doesn't take a shot, then AB or Gerald Wallace will be taking that shot. In close games like the one against Phoenix just now, JG making a couple more buckets and asserting himself would have made a huge difference.
Hell, the team as a whole was shooting something like 35%. Everything was set up for JG to save the day, but he didn't.
And Rondo's "inefficiency"? Seems he was only missing layups today. It's not like he's jacking up shots. It's much better than what it looks on paper, as I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
