Are there any other teams Rondo wouldn't Re-sign with ? . This is getting annoying now , memo to rondo you don't have a no trade clause so you have no say on where Danny should trade you to. Rondo is using scare tactics to nix any trade danny has planned by refusing to re-sign with that team. Smh.
How is this Rondo's problem? Rondo signed a very reasonable contract. He is willing to play it out. How would it help Rondo to increase his trade value anyway? That would just mean that the team he goes to needs to give up more assets to get him.

Agreed--it is entirely within Rondo's right to say he wants to go to FA, as well as within any trading partner's right to ask. If he doesn't want to sign with Boston before FA, it's understandable that Sacro and Toronto don't excite him to forego FA either.

rondo won't re-sign with Sac or Tor if traded there!  Yep, probably true, but that's not to say he'll leave money on the table either.  Seeing that either of those two teams can offer max money, a sign and trade scenario is very likely.  i didn't think he'd be dealt, but now, i believe green, bass, and rondo are all gone.

Sign and trades no longer give a player a bigger contract than just leaving to a team with cap space.

So now sign and trades only really happen if the team acquiring the player needs a sign and trade to make the transaction happen. The Courtney Lee acquisition is an example of this.

Who wants to play in Sac or Toronto?

Don't diss Toronto. Its an awesome city to live in. The taxes and weather suck though.
The best thing you can say about Rondo is that he gets it up for games on the big stage.  Nationally televised game?  Trip doub.  Playoff game?  Trip doub.

Toronto and Sacramento are small stage NBA destinations.   He wants to play somewhere relevant.

Think of the teams you've heard Rondo's name attached to this week.  You know what destinations his agent hasn't leaked "rondo will not sign an extension" for?... New York and Houston.   Why not?... cuz they are relevant NBA destinations.  NBA stages that Rondo would probably be willing to play for.

His agent has leaked so and so is nonsense. He won't sign an extension with Toronto because they have a bad team (make the playoffs this year probably because the East sucks). Market size isn't all that important if you are a winning club. Look at Indiana. Good players will still get their $$. If you are winning and get paid, everything else becomes secondary. Look at San Antonio and Tim Duncan.

Where do you guys think this information is coming from?  Where is the info coming from that "Rondo will not sign an extension in Sacramento or Toronto"?

Is your hypothesis that the media is just making it up out of thin air?

Is your hypothesis that the Celtics have gone so far down the trade path with those teams that they actually had to approach Rondo about signing an extension (much like when Boston and Minnesota agreed to a trade, but KG refused an extension with Boston initially?)

Is your hypothesis that Rondo's agent is hearing these rumblings and is leaking it out to the media that Rondo refuses to sign there... so that they can have some control over Rondo's eventual destination?

Is your hypothesis that someone from the media called Rondo to ask him directly, "Hey we hear you might get traded to the Kings... would you sign there?"

It's my hypothesis that we'll never know one way or another whether any of these rumors are true, just like all the other trade rumors. You don't know what was offered. You don't know which team made the offer or which team said no (if an offer was even discussed). It's also my hypothesis that people will consider whichever rumor appeals to them to be close to a fact.

Yes to everything you just said. GM's lie, the media lies, we don't know the "truth" until after the deal is done. We want to believe the rumors that appeal to our interest the most.

I'm 98% sure that the "Rondo's resigning bit" happened because someone called up Rondo's people and asked for confirmation about the Kings.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.
