He's one of the few guys on the roster that this forum hasn't been talking about trading, but the rumor is that teams have at least been acquiring about him.  If the Celtics end up as buyers rather than sellers at the trade deadline, I think he might be a key piece as that young player with upside that GMs tend to ask for.

How good of a player do you want coming back for you to give up non-Wallace contracts and a first along with Olynyk?

Definitely an interesting thought. To be completely honest, I'm not sure what his trade value is. If they did trade him, I'd like to see them get a good young prospect or maybe a "project" player who can develop into a good player.

KO is not going anywhere imo.

Sullinger and KO interest though could of came from Utah for Hayward

He'd be a minor throw-in.  Hasn't proven much to this point.

It would make very little sense to trade him at the moment since in all likelihood you'd be selling low.

I am going with throw in too. Or maybe a late first round pick.

I want the celtics to develop him over the next 2 seasons. I have faith he can be a good rotation player, if not for boston, than in a trade.

KO, in my opinion, was drafted to play with Rondo.

(1). He can play outside, and has a quick release. If they leave him outside, and he can consistently hit 3s (needs to massively up his percentage from outside) and long 2s, he can pull PFs out of the lane, and create spacing for Rondo, whose best work is done either driving to the basket, or passing from the lane.

(2). Although he lacks the lateral quickness to be a great defender, Rondo's on ball defense mitigates that to some degree. To SOME degree.

The bottom line is that, if he can develop into the jump shooter we all thought he could be, he will have unique value to Boston, playing with Rondo.

Why would you trade for that when he is that?

I think Olynyk's current value is somewhere between a late first rounder to early second rounder.

Not enough of a return for me to make it worthwhile parting with Olynyk at this point in time.

sounds right to me.  I expect his trade value will go up if he stays on his current trajectory, especially if he gets more PT.

In general, it makes very little sense to trade a guy less than a year after you draft him.

Typically you don't draft for current value, you draft for future value.  So you're pretty much always going to be selling low, unless it's really obvious less than a year in that it was a bad pick and the guy you got wasn't worth the 1st you spent on him.

His future value or potential is worth more to the celtics than pretty much any trades out there.  Unless he is the al jefferson to get kevin garnett (which he isn't) my point on that if we can get kevin love and minny wants ko....see ya!
Kelly could be a good rotation player for us on his rookie contract.  He can be traded next year etc but at this point I can't see him going.  Sully has more chance as he is a young better prospect.

I'm envisioning a scenario where Ainge surprises everyone and trades a package for a star.  I'm pretty sure the response here is unanimous that if they ask for Sullinger, you try to sell the other team on accepting Olynyk instead.  If they are asking for multiple draft picks, do you offer Olynyk in lieu of one of those firsts?

If Ainge offered Bogans, Bass, and the Clippers pick for Asik and Morey said no, is offering Olynyk instead of the pick an upgrade or a downgrade on the offer?

about 15 cents, to use the usual dollar metaphor.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Downgrade, I think. I have to believe that GMs would prefer to use a pick on any choice of players (or as a chip in another deal).

Plus, the pick is unprotected. Something crazy could always happen to Blake or CP3 next year, you never know.

The only way KO gets dealt withing the next year if he was thrown into a package for a big name player... DA wouldnt trade him as a first year player with the same value he was drafted at,,
