Ok McDermott could never play shooting gaurd in the nba and the celtics would be stupid to draft him. But let's trade our whole team for Gordan Hayward and Asik to win the chip. Jokes.

I don't think anyone has ever said let's trade the whole team for Hayward and Asik. What are you talking about ?

Jeff green, Avery Bradley, a first, humphries, bass , that's the least a lot of people say we could give up for them. Basically the whole team.

Can just draft McDermott and arguably have a better player then Hayward.
How is McDermott, a nobody, better than Hayward, who is having a great season.

Drafting, unathletic, slow shooting types is kind of risky business.

If he's lucky, McDermott turns into the next Mike Miller.

If he's not so lucky, he turns into the next Adam Morrison.

Really hard to say.  It's easy to watch a guy dominate in college and get excited, but a lot harder to say how that will project to the pro level.

I think McDermott projects into a good 6th man type, but his lack of athleticism stops him from being a starter imo.  Too much of a liability on defense.  That type of player is usually taken in the 20-30 area if not the 2nd round.

He plays the 4 for Creighton. He actually posts up very often when he's not running off-ball action to get him an open 3.

I don't see how he'll translate to a SG in the pros. Thicker and slower overall than Hayward to my eyes and even Hayward struggles at that position at times and plays SF frequently.

Yup. My biggest problem. He isnt fast enough to guard NBA 2's and probably most threes either. He could be a great shooter playing 15 minutes a game but I wouldnt want him as a starter...Especially at the two.

I think you sound extremely arrogant throughout this entire thread. You're acting as if you're a know-it-all. And I don't get your attitude. If anything everyone is against your opinion, but you seem to keep trying to convince everyone that your opinion is fact. Yes I do like McDermott, and I do believe if he does get drafted, that he may exceed said expectations. But as of right now... his ceiling is sixth man at best. You don't start Korver, but the Hawks have literally no one as good as him that can shoot 3's, and score quick buckets.

Your NBA position is determined by what capabilities, attributes, and what type of defender based on size/length/wingspan will slot you in... Bradley is a undersized 6'2, but he can still relatively guard PG/SG fairly well.

McDermott is slow. If you put him at the 2, he's going to get torched and crossed over by any competent 2. End of story.

It's based on your perspective, quite simply
We're the same and we're not; know what I'm saying? Listen
Son, I ain't better than you, I just think different

The kid just scored 40points and had 7 rebounds on number 6 Villanova. At 15-18 that is a great draft choice and I believe Danny will take him.

Agreed. Not just scoring against scrub teams. This kids got all around ability to score. I'd def grab him if he's still there with that second pick. Pretty sure he'll get drafted by pick 10 though.
