whiel it is a small sample size of 10 games, after last nights 4-5 shooting night

rondo is averaging 2.9 3pt shots a game, and making 1.1 of them for .379%

while that number is certainly to drop it seems apparant to me that it is something he is trying to add to his game and take more of.

reminds me of Jason Kidd who wasn't known as a shooter early in his career, but developed a deadly 3-point shot that elevated his game.

If Rondo can nail that 3point shot at around 33% by the end of the season I think that will greatly improve his game to new heights as we saw with Jason Kidd.

If he shoots 38% for the rest of his career and 75% from the line he'll be one of the greatest players ever. Guaranteed HOF top 25.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Can't tell if serious with LarBrd33 feeling particularly sarcastic today.

I think you're probably underestimating how good the top-25 players of all-time are.

Rondo is definitely shooting more from outside than he normally does.  While it would be nice to see him add a consistent 3-point shot to his repertoire, I wonder if he's penetrating less / finishing less at the rim due to rust or residual effects from the injury.

As for the percentages, just keep in mind what a small sample size we're talking about.  Before last night, his 3PT% was around 29%, which is poor; one hot game shot it up to 38% (which is very good).

If he'd entered the league shooting 38% on his threes and 75% from the line he'd be around that level.

Yeah I'd really like to see more dribble penetration from him. But given that his burst still clearly isn't there improved shooting is the next best thing.

Hopefully it stays with him.

Oh wow 29% of his FGAs have been 3s.

That's more than I imagined, definitely a sign of his inability to get by people. Hopefully that goes down, much of Rondo's value is on his ability off the bounce.

Though then again Stevens has Sully the green light from deep, wouldn't be shocked if Rondo does too.

I don't take it as a sign he's unable to get by people.  We have less-effective people on offense so I take it as the team having a different dynamic on offense than we've had for quite a while.

Yep, Stevens is desperately seeking 3pt shooters wherever he can find them.

It's reasonable to expect that all those months of work with Ron Adams are paying off for Rondo as well.
