but wait...wait...Rondo doesn't try hard enough (see other very interesting thread).

seriously though, he seems like he is slowly knocking the rust off.  i am hoping for a full 100% return by training camp in the fall.

That's a reasonable expectation. People here generally expect recoveries from injuries to be linear, where the player improves slightly (or greatly) from game to game and not have good and bad games but that's not the case. Case in point Rondo, who had a couple of good games and then had to sit out with "general soreness". I'd guess if he'd played in that game he'd have had a below average game, and possibly played worse in the next game as well. It's obviously encouraging that he's playing well in spurts because it shows that he's still capable of playing at a high level but you still can't expect it every game.

He's extraordinary.  I think he's a Celtic for life.

Let's make some trades and build around him.

Okay. Seriously though.

That's incredible confidence you have in a fringe starting point guard who's basically in his late 40's who's only made a living leeching off 3 hall of famers!!

Homeless man's Kendall Marshall minus the godly shooting.

you don't need until trainning camp to knock the rust off.  In a few weeks after playing 30 plus minutes a game he should be back to close to full health.  In two weeks, if he can't play back to back games, maybe he will never be fully healthy again

Its something people have to be prepared for.

I don't think anything that's going on with Rondo sice his knee injury points to his never recovering more than he has by now. I suppose everyone should "prepare for" Rondo never getting healthier but anyone that's seen more than a few athletes recover from knee injuries before realizes that it's a pretty unlikely prospect.

In the long run Rondo is dead, so we should prepare for that too.

It's the kind of thing you can't prepare for too soon. Same with his impending retirement, which is reason enough to trade him for pennies on the dollar.

I'm hoping for an appearance from the guy who keeps saying Rondo's 30.

TP, had a good laugh over that one.

Sure, it's always funny until it starts showing up as a justification in the "trade Rondo" threads...

Honestly you have to be ready for any athlete to either suddenly lose it, or start a cascade of injuries and never to return to what he was.

Mike Brown played every dang game and snap for the Bears and NE for years. Then he signs a rich contract after his rookie deal is up, bam! Suddenly he's Mr. Glass and both of his legs systematically explode over several years with various injuries.

Tracy McGrady was unstoppable, then suddenly he tweaks his back and he slopes downward hard. Dwight Howard was every bit as good as LBJ, now suddenly he's still really good but not in the same conversation. Brandon Roy was a top 3 SG (maybe the best depending on who you asked) in the league. Yao Ming, Michael Redd, etc, etc, etc.

Unfortunately is more on the likely vs unlikely side. Look at how mediocre bynum, stoudermire, rose, shumpert etc. have played or playing ever since coming back from major injuries.

I forgot to mention you'd also have to be able to distinguish between an injury like Rondo's and an injury like Amare's. I wasn't talking about whether you could list players who have ever had problems coming back from knee injuries. I guess it's expected that you'd gather some sense of perspective if you've seen a lot of players return from injury over the years.

Rondo didnt come from a sprained ankle. You know what iam not going to make you sad. Rondo will be back to 110 percent soon.

No, not really soon. It's going to take a while until he's back to full speed on a nightly basis. Think Chris Paul, not Amare. He will likely get back to at least close to full health, much to your chagrin.
