- Says he talked to a bunch of GM's and C's overvalue their talent, teams around the league don't want to give up a 1st for Bass or Green

- Says teams other than contenders wouldn't take on their salaries because of Kevin Love being  a free agent in 2015, I would throw Melo and Marc Gasol in there too

- Said the C's would have to trade for Love if they wanted to get him, and have other pieces to make sure love stays

- Exum is going to be a stud

- After pick # 5 the draft is sketchy

I don't see why it would ever have made any sense for a non-contender to give up assets for Bass (or probably Green) unless they were unloading a larger contract or have personnel issues (Cleveland).

In general I don't see it as overvaluing their assets as much as not being under duress to trace them. Danny doesn't *have* to trade Bass or Green, so if teams call to ask about them he might as well set a decent price. He can always call that team back and lower his price if he chooses.

I agree.  Though with Bass and Hump in particular I can see trading them for less than value in an attempt to get worse this year, since neither are big talents.  I could see that thinking with Avery too (if Ainge knows he isn't in the long term plans).

Bass and Green could both really help out contending teams.

playoffs teams get desperate near deadlines especially if they are hurt or thin at certain positions...

Yeah, no surprise.

Ainge (and probably every other GM) has high prices right now. The deadline is still a week away and I expect some teams will begin lowering their prices. No reason to give discounts at this point.

I'd be pretty shocked to get a first for Bass. He's the definition of mediocre and isn't exactly signed to a bargain.

Green I would wrestle with. His talent tells me I should get a first, but his contract is likely too rich for some teams. If the best I get for Green is a late first, I may just hang on to him. Tough call.

To be fair, GM's always undervalue each others talents and overvalue their own. So that isn't news.

And as for the draft, I would say that there are about 6 guys who have the talent/skills/potential to be the Number 1 Pick. I don't think that any of those guys have shown separation from the pack. From 7 to 15 or so there are players that could be solid guys in the NBA, and then after that a bunch of guys that are low risk high reward because of their draft number. All together, I think this is a solid draft, just no Durant/James level talent that is apparent at this time.

I would take Mannix with a grain of salt, because he is talking to guys in Boston media who want Ainge to sell the farm, he is just trying to put out there that if you try to have a fire sale, you won't get value. And there is little point in trying to tank worse than we are because it would leave the team worse off than we would be if we just got the 4th or 5th pick by playing as we are rather than trying for the 1st pick by losing everything. That is what I got out of what he was saying. I though he sounded more optimistic than what you heard.

I don't get the post with the Kevin Love part... Does it mean that Danny Ainge may or may not be interested in trading for Kevin Love?

EDIT: I don't see the Wolves trading Love to us unless we give him a Kings ransom.

And even then it'd still be hard for them to want to trade him to us.

I still believe Love, and Rondo alone is a good enough duo to lure FA to our team. But as of right now, I don't think those two will make much of an impact.

The cost of acquiring Love may be a little bit too much.

Maybe if we could facilitate a trade from the 76ers and send over Young or Turner to the Wolves?

Prediction:  Bass, Bogans, and Bradley go, Green and Wallace stay.

Wallace may be waived with stretch provision in the offseason after an attempt to showcase him after the Bass trade fails to salvage his career.

Makes sense. Danny should be valuing their talent high. If he can't get a pick or an asset for a player like Green why not just keep him. We are better off with him then trading him for unequal or lesser talent.

Wallace is not getting waived this offseason.  That would be foolish of Danny to create $4 million of dead cap space for each of the next five years.

Listen, I am sure DA would be happy to give up Bass for an expiring contract if he could get it.  But I am not sure that he can.  You can forget about any sort of real value.

As for Green, I suppose it depends on the team.  He might be worth mid to late first to some team but who know.  Unlike Bass, however, DA should be able to at least land an expiring contract if he wanted a straight salary dump.

Wallace is going nowhwere of course.

Yeah, that's pretty much the way I heard it too.  Good assessment.

I'd look at is as creating $6M of space in 2014 and 2015.

We can afford the $4M hit because we can have 1/3 of the roster on rookie contracts for the next 4 years as well.

Next year's cheap roster filler can include 2 new draft picks plus Colton Iverson, in addition to current cheap contracts Johnson and Pressey, plus Vitor, Sully, and KO on their rookie deals.

That's half of the roster getting paid relative peanuts.  That extra $6M in space can be used for the top of the roster.
