Wonder what will happen to Marcus Smart now? If u didn't see it, he push a fan at a Texas Tech game. I know it wont hurt his draft status but wonder what NCAA will do

Don't know for sure and he was wrong in his response BUT fans do not have the right to say whatever they want to people just because they buy a ticket. The truth will come out with what he said but do you think the man would be brave enough to say that to him he he saw him walking down the street? I would say NO!!! Smart was wrong but people think they can say whatever they want to people and it is ok. WELL IT ISN'T!!!!

I, for one, am sick of fans who thinks just because they pay money to go see a game, they can say whatever they want.  I tried to put myself in his shoes but I probably would do more.  People's ignorance in this day an age outstands me.  I totally approve of Smart's move (no pun).

I'd be shocked if he wasn't suspended for multiple games for this incident.

ESPN was saying he told coaches that the fan called him the N-word. The fan also apparently has a reputation for being an aggressive heckler. If this is all true that "fan" should have been taken care of a while ago by the Texas Tech, but I bet he gives lots of money so they ignore it.

I know of a lot of "boosters" who think donating a few grand gives them the right to talk all sorts of crazy stuff to athletes. I even know of some who do it over twitter/facebook after games to multiple individual players. We're talking professionals who are 40+.

Fan deserved it, hopefully his season tickets will be revoked . Fans can't just go around spewing racial insults and not expecting a 19 yr old kid standing right in front of him to not react, . Especially in the heat of competition .

Smart needs to learn to control his emotions better, but I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing. The fan is the one who should know better, you're a 60 yr old man who hasn't learned yet what is socially acceptable , you're a moron .

I like the kid hustle and heart.  I've watched his team a lot this year and Travis Fords scheme is a mess.  Smart gets far fewer touches than a player of his caliber should…

Amazing how one bad choice supersedes dozens of good choices…human nature I guess.

Well, this certainly wasn't the 'Godly' way to conduct one's self.  A better approach would have been to hold his head high and not allow this scum bag's words to affect him.

But I'm not going to condemn the young man for his actions.  That word is bound to incite the worst in all of us.  I'll be willing to bet there will be many amongst us that will be ready to condemn him, though, which is ultimately why this was a bad decision on the part of Smart.  Right or wrong, this will likely be a 'red flag'.

I do not however buy the nonsense that being a paying fan entitles one's self to hide behind that fact, and say whatever you want without fear of repercussions, possibly even physical.  If you don't want your teeth knocked out, well, shut your [dang] mouth.

If the fan got into race stuff, he deserved a shove (not from a player, however) or worse.

However, I would like to see a link for all this, otherwise I don't think it is right to assume to worst of either person.

Doesn't seem like it; from the fan himself:

"Yeah i kinda let my mouth say something i shouldn't have. I feel bad."

That said, I echo everyone else's sentiments; Smart was wrong, but I don't feel bad for the fan in the least and he's lucky that happened in a relatively controlled, safe environment and not on the street somewhere.

The fan denies he said that (but as I showed in my previous post, acknowledged he said something over the line), but there are reports that Smart was overheard telling coaches otherwise.  This guy's also a renown heckler; there's a video of him shouting obscenities and making offensive gestures towards another player in a different game.
