Embiid, Wiggins, Parker and Exum are all guaranteed all stars or as close as you can get to it with prospects. Any of those four would put the Celtics in much better position than they are currently in. Rondo is a hindrance and needs to be dealt ASAP
I am wondering how anyone can be so certain about Exum's future potential. there's very little game footage of him competing to review. Most of that footage is highlight stuff not game film and what little there is is against ridiculously bad quality of competition.
Hehasn't been playing against really any quality people lately and the agent he hired is notorious for not allowing his clients to work out for people much before drafts.
So unless people are just looking at highlight film's or reading all the draftnik stuff online, I am not sure how anyone can be certain that Exum is a future All-Star.
Heck, watching the ups and downs and pros and cons of Embiid, Parker and Wiggins every weekend, I am not 100% sure any of those guys will be future All-Stars. Can't imagine Exum is so much better than those three that he would make me 100% certain he is a future All-Star nevermind franchise cornerstone to rebuild a franchise with.
I've been thinking the same thing about Exum. I don't understand how so many seem so convinced he's going to be a sure fire superstar based on one High School All Star game.
I think it's related to what you mention in your last paragraph. People are getting to see Embiid, Parker, and Wiggins play on ESPN all the time, showing off their strengths, as well as exposing their weaknesses.
With Dante Exum mysteriously hidden away somewhere in the outback, I think it's easy to imagine a flawless basketball player without any holes in his games, because we don't get to see those flaws displayed.
It's kind of a genius move by himself and his agent. It seems to be working. What remains to be seen is what kind of NBA talent he'll actually become.
