Embiid would add rim protection immediately.

We need a center and I would love Embiid, I just don't think he will be there when we pick.    I miss Paul Pierce so much, hard to believe we got him with the 10th pick!  I would love a top 3 pick but I think a future star will be drafted in the 6 through 12 range seems to happen in most drafts. If we fall out of top 5 I like Aaron Gordon with our first pick and would love Doug McDermott with our second.  We will see if Danny keeps both picks.

Embiid

But he'll be on another really bad team ......that will stay "really bad " for ever ......like what is happening to Cousins  , KLove , and happened to young KG .

In the top 4 I go with Parker, embiid, wiggins then exum for best pick though I think exum may eventually be a better pro then wiggins. Would love any of them. Out side the top 4 cauley-stein fits a real need and while not a great scorer or rebounder he looks to have elite defensive potential.  At the wings I think young, hood and Hairston all project favorably as starting wings in the nba I would rank them in that order. I really like mcdermont but worry that his defensive deficiency s will limit him to a bench . He will really struggle with the athletic wings but he will be a very above average scorer , great 6th man option

Are any of those can't-miss stars likely to be an above-average defender who might be able to hit 40% of his threes?

Best fit? Embiid or Exum then fill out the sg or c spot with a FA.

Others I'd take but not based on fit (at least based on this roster):

Parker
Wiggins
Vonleh
Harris
Grant
LaVine

Please no Randle or Smart DA
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

If we don't get either wiggins or embiid, i hope danny can somehow grab Jerami Grant and Garry Harris to replace Green and AB.

Either Embiid or Parker would be best fits.

Embiid for filling a legit paint presence on both sides of the ball.  Which is lacking right now.

Parker as a shot-creating scorer from the wing.  Offensively, this Celtics team could certainly use that type of offensive sparkplug.

Embiid, Wiggins, Parker and Exum are all guaranteed all stars or as close as you can get to it with prospects. Any of those four would put the Celtics in much better position than they are currently in. Rondo is a hindrance and needs to be dealt ASAP

any of the top 3 guys would fit perfectly but differently with rondo.

Wiggins would replace green as rondo's running partner.

Parker would be a young pierce next to rondo, and Embiid could potentially be a young explosive KG/duncan/olajuwon next to rondo.

Exum is gonna do better than Rondo right off the bat?

How exactly is Rondo a hindrance?

I am wondering how anyone can be so certain about Exum's future potential. there's very little game footage of him competing to review. Most of that footage is highlight stuff not game film and what little there is is against ridiculously bad quality of competition.

Hehasn't been playing against really any quality people lately and the agent he hired is notorious for not allowing his clients to work out for people much before drafts.

So unless people are just looking at highlight film's or reading all the draftnik stuff online, I am not sure how anyone can be certain that Exum is a future All-Star.

Heck, watching the ups and downs and pros and cons of Embiid, Parker and Wiggins every weekend, I am not 100% sure any of those guys will be future All-Stars. Can't imagine Exum is so much better than those three that he would make me 100% certain he is a future All-Star nevermind franchise cornerstone to rebuild a franchise with.

As a Baylor alumni I watched Kansas play Baylor and left very unimpressed with Embiid and Wiggnins.  You didn't notice either of them on the floor until the last 5 minutes or so when Baylor fell apart and Jefferson of Baylor thoroughly outplayed Embiid.

I've been thinking the same thing about Exum.  I don't understand how so many seem so convinced he's going to be a sure fire superstar based on one High School All Star game.

I think it's related to what you mention in your last paragraph.  People are getting to see Embiid, Parker, and Wiggins play on ESPN all the time, showing off their strengths, as well as exposing their weaknesses.

With Dante Exum mysteriously hidden away somewhere in the outback, I think it's easy to imagine a flawless basketball player without any holes in his games, because we don't get to see those flaws displayed.

It's kind of a genius move by himself and his agent.  It seems to be working.  What remains to be seen is what kind of NBA talent he'll actually become.
