I'm pretty sure if Danny was really hot to get Asik he'd be here by now. Not saying Danny won't get him, but it's not like he's calling Houston on the phone every other day either.
Agree with Tim. Asik doesn't fit on a team trying to bottom out and rebuild over the next 3-5 years. The only reason Ainge was targeting Asik was because he seemed like an asset we could steal for pennies.
I disagree somewhat -- as long as the team ends up with a top 10 pick, Rondo - lottery pick - Sullinger - Asik is a group that could be competitive within a couple of years, and there'd still be some salary flexibility once Wallace and Green are off the books.
And I don't think Bradley and Green hurt that rotation, either.
Rondo/Bradley/Green/Sully/Asik + lotto pick + Bass + [KO + Fav + C.Iverson]
A .500 team, perhaps. Could get HCA in the 1st round in the East!
Why would I feel more confident if we had an iso-guy, when I don't like iso-ball?
*note the 3 7-footers in development there, folks... Danny's coming around!
We need to dump role-player salary, e.g. Bass and Wallace.
no one is taking Wallace unless we are sending a 1st rd pick with him , even then I doubt anyone would do it, I wouldn't want to give up a 1st just to move him anyways .
Ranking the easiest to hardest C's contracts to move
1)Bogans, non guaranteed , so basically a 5 mil expiring contract
2) Bass, only 1 more year next year around 6 mil , lots of contenders would be interested .
3) Hump: he is a big 10 mil expiring contract, it will be harder to match salaries coming back without long term money coming back most likely
4) Bradley, could be really good on a team like Houston playing alongside Harden and Dwight . Only problem is he is up for a new contract next year.
5) Green, has 2 more years on his contract after this year(don;t see him opting out and leaving 9 mil on the table after next year) Some contenders would likely have interest .
So the deal would most likely be
Bos sends: Bogans, Bass and a 1st (clippers), maybe a 2nd too
Hous sends: Asik
I dont think it would hurt the tanking either because we would have even less shooting by sending Bass out .
I like the Rondo,Sully ,Asik ,top 5 pick as the true future core . We would have to replace green with a go to scorer (hopefully Parker or Wiggins, but maybe Melo if we can work out a trade . )
if we it on a top 3 pick we are set, but if not
Bos sends: 2014 pick(5-10 range),2016 c's pick, Green,KO,Fav , Johnson(exp) Anthony(expiring)
NYK sends: Anthony
PG: Rondo /vet min
SG: ? /
sf: Melo or Parker / Wallace(ugh)
pf: Sully) / nets/hawks pick
C: Asik / Vet min
Obviously we would be looking for a cheap sg and bench help for a year until we can utilize the MLE and more draft pick.
I do like a core like that though
- Have a floor general with Rondo
-you have a go to scorer in Melo or Parker/Wiggins
- Have a beastly rebound , 2nd or 3rd option, high IQ Sully
-Have a defensive anchor with Asik
would have to add a knockdown shooter at SG , and some defenders off the bench .
