Yeah. It's looking more and more like Rondo walking it up the floor and pounding the rock is more by design than anything.

Complicated half court sets take time to set up. I've seen the Doc-era offense being aptly called the "screen maze".

As for his outburst today, color me...NOT surprised.

I truly cannot believe some of the conclusions drawn. It's truly unbelievable.

His jumper looks like it's coming around as well. His form is different, more consistent.

Seriously, what did you expect? You think Rondo just sat on his hands throughout his recovery? Again, color me NOT surprised. At Rondo's jumper today. At his overall performance today.

Even if Rondo's improved his jumper it will probably take some time to show itself because his knee will affect his jump for a while.

I was thinking his jumper didn't show because of conditioning. No, jump shots don't take as much stamina but you still need focus on your mechanics.

But his lift is something I didn't consider. That too.

I like how he's rebounded as well. I was concerned he wouldn't be as aggressive on the boards due to the lack of strength or confidence, or both, in his knee. But it seems he's still able to get up there and grab them.

Clearly Rondo's best game since returning.  He moved the ball and made some shots when left open (although Orlando did not seem to sag off him like teams were last year).

Now the question is consistency and perhaps continued improvement.  I would think Rondo could be consistent at that level but it was against a pretty bad team.

I feel like that is the new Rondo.  A little better scoring than before, still great court awareness, but he is still what he is.  If the shooting still improves (and I refer to shooting when forced to create at some level, not when left wide open) that will mean Rondo is taking it to a new level.  I have my doubts about Rondo reaching this new level but he certainly could prove me wrong.

Good performance, but it was Orlando.  :-\

And despite all the good individual efforts for the Celtics, they barely won.

^^ This is why I'm going to hold my praise till he's able to replicate the same performance against a good team

Absolutely. He didn't pound the ball at the 3pt line like he's accused by some of here, and he made jumper after jumper. He also passed very well, as he usually does. The offense flowed well, and he helped his teammates (Bradley, Bass) get into great rhythm.

19/10/6 in ONLY 26 minutes with probably not even 75% of his speed back yet. He's definitely on his way back.

We only accuse him of it because he does it a lot.

I guess we'll find out whether he did that because he insisted on running the offense like that (as his accusers frequently claimed last year) or because of the coaching/personnel from the last few years.

Definitely coaching personnel. Stevens doesn't have the veteran stars Doc had, so he doesn't have a real pecking order. Rondo now runs the offense through himself, where he can distribute smartly, whereas back in the old days the offense ran through Pierce and Garnett and Allen, where they got the majority of the looks.
"Because there are no fours." -- Antoine Walker when asked why he shoots so many threes.

"Stars. The Eskimos use them to find their way home. I use them to wish for a girlfriend."

Rondo's play is going to be up and down with the injury, but he's probably the last player in the league that you should worry about not being able to play as well against good teams as he does against bad teams.
