Gallinari originally had an ACL procedure called Healing Response surgery, which is an alternative to the standard ACL surgery. It didn't work. A more traditional surgery proved to be needed and now Gallinari will start the rehab process against from square one.

"It was recently determined that the procedure that Danilo underwent on his knee this past summer was insufficient," Nuggets general manager Tim Connelly said in a statement.

"Danilo's knee required that he undergo reconstruction of the ACL, which was successfully completed earlier this morning."

That sucks, but why not get the traditional surgery from the beginning?

The reports are that Gallinari and his camp are rather angry at the Nuggets, the Nuggets team doctor, and how the injury was handled.

As they should be. A botched surgery could end a career depending on severity.

They should be upset that was some bad advising on the Nuggets part.

Sounds like they went with the wrong type. They attempted a more conservative approach, which was apparently incorrect.

Tough luck. I get DG's frustration, but surely the team/doctors were acting in the best interest of everyone involved.

He could have gotten a second opinion if he didn't like what they wanted to do, but he went along with it.

Ouch rough for Gallo. Agree they should be upset but I wonder how much of this was on Gallos part... Reminds me of what the Mets and Matt Harvey went through this season. Harvey wanted to rehab without surgery to try and potentially get back sooner. Eventually he, along with the Mets advising, opted for the surgery to be safe.

Maybe Gallo was in the same position, pushed the non traditional surgery to attempt an earlier comeback which then was poorly executed and poorly advised by the nuggets.

Remind me, who won the Carmelo trade again?
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

If the Knicks end up conveying a lottery pick in this years draft to the Nuggets, very clearly the Nuggets.

Otherwise, I think it worked out about even. Subsequent management moves by both teams were stinkers though.

With Harvey it was a bit different, because due to the timing of the injury, he was going to miss all of this season regardless of when he had it, and none of next year as long as he had it by around now.  So the Mets were fine with Harvey trying to rehab for a month or two, or even four, because it wasn't going to make much of a difference, other than a little rehab next fall in the AFL.

Gallo on the other hand -- he's looking from being out most or all of one season to missing at least half of a second season, and having a second procedure.  That's very bad, regardless of who messed up.

When were the Nuggets ever not clearly the winner?  NY could have got Carmelo for free.  Nuggets would have had to let him walk for nothing, as no one would have paid to rent him.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Depends on whom you believe in the giant game of chicken. Whether or not Carmelo really would have agreed to go to the Nets via a similar trade package to what landed Deron Williams.

Less invasive?
