Man, people are way too hard on Jeff because he hasn't turned into PP overnight, which is ridiculous. Personally, I think he's a valuable part of the future and could be a great 3rd option on a contender behind Rondo and a max FA or top draft pick.

Maybe a pipe dream, but do people think this starting lineup could contend?

Rondo
Bradley
Green
Sullinger
Gasol, other FA center, or Embiid (depending on the route we go)
6 years = overnight :-\

No, it's because he simply disappear most of the games... we don't expect him to become the next PP we already got Phil Pressy for that.. we simply want him to play the same intensity every single game..

I do not think that team wins a title or gets out of the 2nd round.

Green.
Have you watched the games?

I think i have watched 20 so far.

He CAN lockdown defend but he often does not and steps out of the play if he can maybe to get the long rebound? Sounds odd yeah. Shading yourself out of a play. I have not ever seen it before. I might have seen it but the person looked like they were trying and missed a switch or lost their man when they really were just not trying. I have watched Green look like and act like he was out of a play countless times.

He's got an odd demeanor that looks like he doesn't really like Basketball that much really. He can laugh on the bench look away while the coach is talking and he's looking like he's getting annoyed at the whole thing. It would be really shallow and judgemental observations if the games didn't seem to mirror his body language.

He CAN take the ball to the rim though almost exclusively going right. The playbook on him is clear and he seems to have made no effort to get better with the ball or incorporate fakes and jukes to shed a defender and explode to the rim. He CAN do that if he wanted to.

He was in the best situation to be THE man without dealing with Rondo which if you recall last year the locker room was lost to Doc with 2 sides and Green and Rondo were not by any indications on the same side. Rondo was just about to get injured. After that P.P. and K.G. were throwing up their hands at some who seemed to not mind losing. Any idea who that was? I got a pretty good idea. I watch the games. I was watching Rondo and Ray dissolve on the court to ridiculous levels. Some folks can see the game and others see more. Maybe we think we do? I think Jeff Green is a miserable guy. Not sure even he knows why but it seems to have been known for a while and Danny will shed him. He doesn't look in any way shape or form anything more than a final piece in a backup position. You think he'd be a started for a contender? I don't think so for a second. I have never seen him act out of his skin since he blew Miami and that day he said was for his surgeon who was sitting courtside. That's nice.....

If Rajon is an Enigma wrapped in a mystery then what is Jeff??

Regardless of the truth of the rumor, one thing has become crystal clear to me via this thread and a few others over the last several days: Celtics fans now like Humphries.

You wouldn't have guessed it could ever happen based on the threads bouncing around celticsblog last summer!!!
Celtics fan for life.

Yeah, it's tough not to like someone who goes all out at all times.  He adds toughness and didn't complain when he wasn't getting playing time.  He has pretty much done everything right and has gotten 100% out of his ability.

I'm admit watching him holdup his jersey when he was introduced and remembering him and Rondo plus his TMZ stuff had me feeling bad and I was 100% wrong. He is a solid team player. I'd love to keep the guy. Him and Sully seem like the most competitive players night in and night out. I love the Hump.

No, people are hard on Jeff Green because he's been more or less the same player since he entered the league and has failed to increase his production or engagement with the offense despite the fact that Pierce, KG, and Terry are now gone.

I would not do this.  Green is just as good on D as Asik is, but he's far superior on O.

Asik has the potential to be DPOY.  His defense is better than Green's.

His problem is a consistent inconsistency.. Any player who can score 25 then 6 the next game over and over is trouble.. it looks like teams can scout him well.. Overall he is not a great main piece/threat... he would be an ideal 6th man for a contender who can come off the bench add energy, use his athletisism, get to the hoop, and play good defense..

I'm not sure 6th man is actually a good role for him.  As others have pointed out, what Green lacks is the skills and moves to consistently score against targeted defensive pressure.

I think his ideal role is as a 3rd or 4th option who can score when the opposing defense breaks down after trying to stop more talented scorers (basically what his role was on the Thunder, and last year with Pierce and Garnett).

If Ainge can get asik and a first for green then I think he eventually will.

I could see this already being on the table bc Houston's pick is a late first rounder and asik is dead weight on that team. I could see Ainge holding out for a Gerald Wallace for Jeremy Lin swap to be included as well.

Houston is not trading for Green. They have no reason to lock up $9-10mil a season when they have Parsons there.

Want to dump Green? Call a weak GM, not a good one.

Yeah they have to pay Parsons this offseason too unless they want to let him hit FA unrestricted.

I liked Humphries before he played a minute in Celtics uniform. Anyone who paid any sort of attention to the NBA as a whole should have as well.

On a related note, forming any sort of opinion based on a worthless reality show can make you look really stupid.
