  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Realgm.com, NBA.com

"The Boston Celtics are motivated to trade Jeff Green, according to rival executives.

One trade possibility is Green in a package to the Houston Rockets for Omer Asik.

The Rockets were close to a deal involving Asik in December, but decided to keep him until closer to the deadline. Green would give the Rockets a needed stretch power forward.

Via Sam Smith/NBA.com
"

seems like a bit if a tanking move in the short term but leaves us open to drafting a wing or going after a small forward type.

I guess trading Green makes our draft position better and also moves him for a star.
I'm in support of this, although I'd love a starting 3/4 combo of Green +Carmelo Anthony...
Carmelo (or insert superstar/top 5 pick here and Sully would be just fine though :) )

From NBA.com

I'd actually think Danny would want more than Asik for Green unless he values the bottom 3 finish over the return trade value..which is very possible too.

A line up of Rondo, Bradley, Wallace, Sully, Humphries is a reeeeeal stinker.

Go Danny go!
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Asik, Sullinger and Humphries would be TOUGH on the boards.

I say do it. Offense would suffer, but we get a legitimate Center who can defend and board (as long as he doesnt quit). Let's figure the offense later.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

Yeah it would make us horrific on offense but Rondo would make Asik a 15/10 machine considering he made Perkins look decent.
Asik would then be a very valuable trade asset even after 6 months.

It's a long term move that is cap friendly in trying to sign elite wings.

Green is likely a goner imo. Danny has put in an incentive for increase in rebound numbers and Green has gladly not met the challenge.

Danny was hoping for much more than this for this. A guy who would take over PP once he left. Just hasn't happened and it never will

Green for Asik is a possibility but like many said, this time the celts are the ones that will need a pick back. I personally would do the trade 1 on 1

Once we get Asik, we have to trade at least one of Bass, Humphries. Just way too congested in the PF/C spot

This is Sam Smith talking here. Basically the Midwestern version of Peter Vescey.

"One trade possibility" means Sam Smith tried it in the Trade Machine, and it worked. It's doubtlessly not based on any kernel of verifiable factual information.

Quoted for truth.  Smith might be the biggest conjurer of sources among the basketball media.

Actually Peter Vescey broke the Jordan Crawford trade the day before it happened.
Smith has gotten this info from the same source that is claiming Jabari Parker may stay in school and he was the espn guy for the chicago bulls.
Anyway, sounds like he's been talking to someone  (most likely in Chicago? ) and they've mentioned Green. Wouldn't be surprised if Danny has offered them Green now they've traded Deng away.

That Parker thing is old news, isn't it? At least a week ago Chad Ford said that at least one GM would take Parker #1 overall even if he went on a mission the following season.

I'm just saying: if you're pinning any hopes on what Smith is saying, don't. He's either several weeks behind the story, or not at all on point.

I'd do Green for Asik straight up.  I like Jeff, but he's not a championship player.  This team needs a defensive center as much as anything.  I know their defense has been decent for the year, but they have a definite weakness in the middle. Big Baby should not beat us.

A replacement for Jeff can be found over the summer.  Between all the 3's in the draft as well as hitting free agency this year, that is the most fillable position.  Asik might not be the best thing ever, but he's probably better, at least for next year, than anything else available out there (unless you think Greg Monroe is actually available).  If Danny's trying to put the team in contention next year, it's better to fill that hole now and the small forward hole later.  If he's not, then sure, hold out for a draft pick.

He didn't break the trade at all, he said he was being shopped heavily and could move soon.

He also got the team wrong in his guess (LAC I belive)

We get Asik, get Parker, and go after Melo...

With Rondo, Sully, Avery, and possibly Humph...

Love that team

I don't think this is reliable we are talking about the nba trade machine anybody can make something up on the trade machine to benefit his or her favorite team and it doesn't make it realistic

Watch this
Pacers Get Joel Anthony
Celtics get Paul George

Hey Works on trade machine lets report that we are about to acquire Paul George

or

Thunder Receive Gerald Wallace and Keith Bogans
Celtics Receive Kevin Durrant

Lets Report that Celtics are about to acquire Durrant

I call bogus on this sorry guys

Also, I mean, how much more horrific can we really be on offense?

If only it wasn't Sam Smith "reporting" on this rumor.  Sigh.

Anyway, I don't know why Houston would be interested in Green with the development of Terence Jones.  Getting a stretch 4 is not critical for them anymore.  Houston has most, if not all the pieces, of a championship team in place.  I think they'd be better off trying to patch things up with Asik (if that's possible) because the only piece they might lack is another good defensive big when Howard is off the floor.

Even though this is Sam Smith, I bet Ainge is trying hard to get something for Green.

Not to mention Wilcox and Shaq looked great next to Rondo.
