No we don't.

He is going to demand approx 8 million on his next contract and should get it (looking around the league).

He is not really part of the long term plan. If he will accept 6 a year and we can trade Bass , then maybe

I think he's worth $8 million for how he plays. A double double guy, who's shown he can block shots too, easy. And he's 29, he can still be productive for the next 5-6 years.

The money IS the big concern though. To keep him, we may have to pay him that much. I dont think we can afford that.

he is a decent player. But yeah right now we are trying to start clean

Rondo is next for a contract, then maybe AB (though i hope not). Next thing you know guys like Sullinger, Olynyk etc will need one.

"Trying to start clean" is not the same as "trade everyone who can play so that we end up being Chris Paul's Hornets".

It all depends on what we can get for Hump.  He is playing decidedly above average and has a large expiring contract.  That has to be attractive to someone.  If we're getting a piece for the future I'd absolutely trade Hump for the right offer.

Like everyone else has said, it really depends on the price. I like Humph, and maybe he'll take a pay cut since he got a megadeal last time?
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Of course. But I'd rather try to resign him than move him for a second rounder or a Marshon Brooks type. It's simply not worth it.

Agreed.

The guy is a double-double walking (when he gets his minutes, sometimes, even when he doesnt). If we trade him, we better get the same value. But why not keep him? He's not making us bad, and even if it's costs him around $8 million he'd still be worth every penny of it.

Seems like he already cleared things up with Rondo...love to have him back if it's for the right price. But what is the right price? 7-8 mil / season? MLE?

Quote from your link:
Quote
There were four places on Kris Humphries’s body that required ice after the Celtics worked out Monday afternoon at the Miami Heat’s practice court.

There were bags of ice on his back, groin, right knee, and left ankle, a byproduct of the dirty work he does every night in the paint as Humphries has transformed from a bench-riding veteran to a leader-by-example in the starting lineup.

...

“I want to be a part of this whole, building this team and doing all that stuff with the new coach and all that, I want to be here,” he said. “You never know if they want you or they don’t want you or what their plans are, but I like Boston, my teammates. I’m just getting a chance to play with Rondo a little bit now.”

The two have become friends, and Humphries admits his opinion on Rondo has changed dramatically.

“Yeah, I’m not going to lie, I never liked him until I got here,” Humphries said. “And then it took me a minute to like him once I got here. He’s a competitor, even if he’s not scoring points, he’s getting assists, he can really rebound for a point guard, and defensively I was surprised what he was doing in the first quarter [Sunday].

“The more he plays, the more we’re going to grow as a team. Someone new comes back, he’s gotta figure out how to do the most he can in 20 minutes, it’s kind of tricky, and I think you can expect better from him and better from us as we keep going here.”

I know it's partially just him trying to say the right things and just doing his job but...

AWWWWWWWWW. I love that guy now.

I'd like to keep his as well, but only if the price is right. I'd keep him if he would take 3-5 million per year tops with a short-term contract.

IMO, while I'd like for him to sign for that price, $3 million is an insult of an offer for Humphries and his abilities.

$5 I think is actually still low, but maybe acceptable.

Humphries will cost us atleast $8 million per year. FOr what he can do, that's about right. I don't know if we can afford that, but I would atleast try HARD to negotiate for a cheaper contract.

I'm sure DA would like to get him at the right price too(and $3 million is silly). Per the Globe:

~~~
...Ainge played coy, but he was complimentary when asked about Humphries.
“First of all, I don’t really listen to words, I watch and see, and Kris has shown it by everything he’s done from the time he’s been here,” Ainge said. “From starting in September-October he’s a great pro, goes about his job, and he’s played well and he’s played hard and he’s played hurt. He’s sacrificed for his teammates and that has a lot more meaning to me than what someone says.
“There’s so many factors that come into play with all of that, so Kris Humphries is a player I’ve tried to acquire in the past. And he’s even better than I thought, so yeah, what else do you need to know? Do you need to have specific answers? That’s all I can give you. I am a fan.”
Agreed. I'd love to be able to bring him back at the MLE (3yrs, roughly 5mil per or whatever), but I don't see that being realistic...unless he is so happy with the Celtics that he gives us a major hometown discount. But fact of the matter is, PFs whom are nightly DBL/DBL threats are not a dime a dozen. Especially PFs strong enough to hold their own at center, play solid D, and block a cpl shots per 36. Like you said, I think he'll command at least 8mil per yr, but I feel he's truly earned himself a 3yr - 24mil type contract.
(Especially when Bass got 3yrs - 20mil)
