  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
#KeepHump.

The guy wont cost $12 million again, and would be a very good third big coming off the bench or even starting.

The energy, toughness and rebounding alone is good enough reason to keep him. But then he showed he can hit mid range shots and protect the rim.

I mean, why not? He backs Sully and the Center spot and will do it so well.
Agree. With you but to play devils advocate.
How much do you pay him/ what would he resign for?
Where would minutes come from for ko?
Is fav better than a third string center?

Part of problem with this years team, no big difference between our logjams at sg and pf

As to how much we pay him? I'd give him the full MLE.

I'm not sure how to solve the logjam as of yet, but I'd rather have Humphries getting the minutes over KO, that's for sure. Olynyk's skills and passing is good, but I'd take Hump's overall impact in the game.

What do you do if another team offers 3 years at $6-7m/year?

I think that's fair price what Humphries can do, but I won't go more than the MLE, as much as I want to keep him. What can we do if someone offers more? Pray that he choose us, maybe?

We're still tied up into bad contracts. It's not like we have a ton of space anyways. MLE is fair. If he walks for an extra $2 million I won't blame him, but I'd try to keep him for that price.

i like him but I'm not sure he is in our future plans. There is a reason he is expiring.

No, we really don't. Hump is a nice little player but is easily replaceable and is should not be a part of this team's future plans unless it is at a significantly reduced price, like vet min to $3 million a year.

I don't think his rebounding is easily replaceable. He's one of the best in the game, and Boston has long been in need of a rebounding upgrade—he and Sully make a great pair in this regard.

He has my vote to stay; Although, at a more reasonable contract - say 6Mn per year;
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

Keep him if the price is right. If he demands more than his actual value, trade him for a team that is willing to pay him for assets and potential pieces.

I would trade him with fav to the cavs for clark+gee+zeller and felix,
if they use pp except they could create a 12 mill dollar exception (the equal of hump salary)
plus they would have around $13 mill of non guanteed salary(bogans+clark+gee) to play around with next offseason. Major, Major trade assets, and it would clear playing time for sully and kelly, as well as landing a couple of recent draft picks on the team (zeller and felix) plus make the c's a better tanking outfit, as witness yesterday when hump nearly won the game yesterday.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Unfortunately for us and Hump, now is not the time for him. I like him as a player and he is a great first big off the bench or spot starter (much like Bass), but if we are truly trying to shed salary, then it really doesn't make any sense to keep him - even for just a few million a year.

He is the kind of player that you get for the mle or lle after you have your core assembled. You can't tie up long term money on him now...which is too bad.

Hump is on a inflated contract but that is the ONLY bad thing about this guy. He plays hard. He doesn't take shots at teammates (good locker room guy) and I am mystified how folks see him as a good BENCH player? When Hump gets minutes he's a double double. I don't think easily replaceable is jacket that fits. Green? Yeah, it fits him but Hump? He's like the anti Green. I'd love to keep him for many reasons.

No we don't.

He is going to demand approx 8 million on his next contract and should get it (looking around the league).

He is not really part of the long term plan. If he will accept 6 a year and we can trade Bass , then maybe

I think he's worth $8 million for how he plays. A double double guy, who's shown he can block shots too, easy. And he's 29, he can still be productive for the next 5-6 years.

The money IS the big concern though. To keep him, we may have to pay him that much. I dont think we can afford that.

If Bass has been moved for cap relief, by all means.
