Say Danny Ainge offers the Knicks a package centered around Sullinger, Jeff Green and our 2014 draft picks for Melo and Amare's contract, would the Knicks do it?

I've gone back and forth on whether the Knicks would ever consider dealing Melo to Boston, but if Melo okayed the move, wouldn't they at least consider this offer?

Can another team make a better offer?

I think a team with Rondo, Melo and one more piece is bound to win a title.

If you don't mind my asking, why would you do it for Marc Gasol but not Melo?

because gasol is a great defensive player, and very good on offense too, while Melo is just a chucker ....

I would like to think that one Melo experiment is enough for the Celtics. Carmelo is not a good team player. I doubt he ill get along with the Boston core of Rondo Sully and KO.

I like the idea of getting Melo, and would even give up our firsts to do it.

But, as you kinda inferred from your OP, we'd have to take Amare's contract back too.

To match those salaries, it'd have to be like a 5 or 6 players for two, something like this:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=n8cxp26

I think we would be too depleted to really compete.

If we didn't have to take back Amare's contract, we could be OK.

I really don't understand the love for Melo. He's a black hole on offense, and I actually get frustrated watching him play. No defense, chucks up stupid shots, anyone wanna actually try to make a good case for this guy? Good luck.
2025 CelticsStrong Historical Draft Orlando Magic:
PG: Chris Paul, Fred VanVleet
SG: Ray Allen, OG Anunoby, Zach Lavine
SF: Paul Pierce, Gordon Hayward
PF: Chris Bosh, Serge Ibaka, David West

Ainge is not that stupid.  Melo doesn't want to play in Boston and would cost a ton of young talent and picks to get him for half a year which would be silly.  Melo and his wife want the big spotlight.  That's either LA or NY, he wouldn't sign with us....

Hey all. First time poster here, but I've been lurking around Celticsblog for yrs. I'm on it just bout every day, even if just for a few mins. Don't ask why I never posted until now...Call it procrastination I guess. I registered months ago, but it took a while for me to get around to posting. With that being said, I've finally decided that it makes little sense, as an avid Celts fan, to spend so much time on a blog without ever voicing my opinion.

Anyways, sorry for the off topic rent.

As for the OP-- I think that's wayy too much to give up for a ballhog like Melo, whom is uninterested in one of the most important parts of being a Celtic- Defense!!

...BOTH our 2014 picks, AND Sullinger, along with Green?? I can see maybe giving up both our highly coveted 2014 picks if we were only trading away Green (plus our TE to make numbers work), but no way would I add Sully to that AND take back Amare's horrible contract. That's a lot to give up for one so-called Superstar, who has never been great at much else besides scoring.

Welcome to the Blog.

I do not want to see Melo on the Cs. How many Melo experiments can one team handle?

Marc Gasol over Carmelo Anthony?  People are unbelievable sometimes.

Our defense has never really been an issue, it's size and offense we've lacked for the longest now and people are throwing away a top five offensive player in the league.  I'll...be...[dang]

Besides the fact that he's a top five offensive player in the league?

People thought that of Melo in NYC and Denver too.   Didn't work out that way because Melo = fool's gold of the NBA.

p.s. You must not have seen RR play the other night.   He still has a ways to go.

The same guys who liked Iverson had to find another knucklehead to follow.  I do not like volume scorers either.
