Marc Gasol over Carmelo Anthony?  People are unbelievable sometimes.

That is not surprising.  A lot of advanced metrics types might even say that Carmelo Anthony has been a below-average small forward for his career and wouldn't trade Rajon Rondo for him.

I'm not sure I would trust the basketball judgment of anyone who would take Carmelo Anthony over Marc Gasol.

TP

Welcome to the Blog.

I do not want to see Melo on the Cs. How many Melo experiments can one team handle?

Thanks, and a TP for you as well sir, just cause that Melo experiment comment made me laugh-- We've had enough Melo experimentation to last us the next decade. After last yr, I'd say this team is more Melo'd out than a bag of gramcrackers at a cubscout campfire.

Melo's never played with Rondo before.  Melo's never played for Brad Stevens before.  Melo has never played Celtics basketball before nor has he had the opportunity to learn to play Celtics basketball.  Those are facts, so let's stop making assumptions and putting him in situations in our head he's never been in before

Our defense has never really been an issue, it's size and offense we've lacked for the longest now and people are throwing away a top five offensive player in the league.  I'll...be...[dang]

You said it yourself. Size is one of the things that we have lacked for the longest now. Maybe that has a little something to do with why people want Marc Gasol, one of the biggest, best true Centers in the league, over Anthony-- a guy who plays Small Forward-- a position we happen to be already pretty well covered at.

Marc Gasol:  14.8 PPG, 6.5 REB, 3.7 ASST, 45.3 FG%

Carmelo Anthony: 26.1 PPG, 9.0 REB, 3.0 ASST, 43.8 FG%

Those are facts...

People blows my mind...

It's one thing not to like the guy but give credit where it's due.

I'll pick Melo every single time

Is Marc Gasol a top five offensive player in the league?

Is Carmelo Anthony a top five overrated player in the league?

I've learned to beware of a man who answers a question with a question.

And no, he's not overrated at all.  Lebron would be "overrated" as well if he hasn't won a championship

Points per game is the most overrated stat.

Come on, we can get Fab for cheap, he's a Free Agent collecting multiple checks...

By the way, Marc Gasol is a better fit with Rondo and a much better passer than Melo. Let alone a great defensive player.

But yeah, Carmelo's stats are great. Good for him!

I would do

Jeff green ,this years first, humphries and bogans filler
For
Melo, Tyson  and amare.

No way I'm trading Sullinger in any deal for Melo while including a draft choice and green, just giving up too much.

I say with a lineup of

Rondo
Bradley
Melo
Sully
Tyson

We'd compete for a title this year, def would give Miami and Indiana a run for there money.

Resign Melo this offseason and trade our next years first, Avery bradley, nets 1st first round pick, philly first this year( or just the rights*) to move into the top 5 of this years draft and take Embiid or wiggins.

Win win situation for us. Contenders throughout rondos campaign and also get our top 5 choice.

Id trade our 1st this year, sullinger and take back amares contract for  Melo.

It amazes me how many people wouldn't want Melo.

With Melo we will just become the Timberwolves or Grizzlies. A fringe team with zero chance.

Do. Not. Want.

If Melo wants to come to Boston, let him exercise his ETO this off-season and sign with the Celtics for less money than Rondo (who is a better player).
