if we trade for tyreke evans and eric Gordon I won't watch till they're gone.

they both suck.

Plus didn't Rondo miss a key three pointer at the end of the game on Friday? (admittedly I didn't see the game.)

Guess I'll still never understand the love for a point guard that can't shoot.

Well that settles it then. Miss a three pointer in your first game back from an ACL tear? You're outta here, chump!

BOOYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LET'S GO CELTICS!

Disagree, that's a pretty good return for Rondo.

If Rondo makes that shot this site and every other Bball one woulda been splashing news of his grand debut. Huge upside. We lost. It should not have come down to that as we blew a lead and could not take away the 3 when we had to. Rondo was worse on D than O but he hadn't played for a year and the coach shoulda had another play with another player but they deemed the potential upside to be worth it and I agree. i was glad they showed confidence in a guy they just named Capt while knowing he's been off for a year.

The guy has more triple doubles than all but 4 players in NBA history during the playoffs when the Ballers come out. Only one close in years>>production is Lebron James.

He can pass he can rebound he can lockdown defend he can drop 40pts he did that as the 4th wheel in a Big 3 era. You don't like his game but you don't get why some folks love him?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UM3Vzd_DAO0

I love dude. He shoves Metta? Hump? whoever. He's the guy that lights the fire this team doesn't have now.

Lol.  I am just pointing out that I wish Rondo was a better shooter, that's all.

He's been a very good shooter from mid-range for a couple of years now. There was an extensive piece on Grantland about a week ago, nicely summarizing BBallTim's thoughts on the matter.

I'm not trading Rondo for complimentary players. Unless I get a top 5 pick in return along with it.

Rajon Rondo is a franchise player, you dont trade him for anything less.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.

SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons

if you said a better free throw shooter then i'd at least hear the complaint. if rondo was at least a 70% ft shooter nobody would be talking about weather he could shoot jumpshots. and his critics would have to find someone else to complain about.

but his jumpshooting is underrated. the pluses outweigh the negatives when it comes to rondo.

That is the laziest column I have read in a while. He could have written most of it in September and just brushed it off for Rondo's return.

It's dated January 18, 2014

Yes, but everything he says about Rondo could have been written at any point in the off season.

He misses key factors that has happened since then: Stevens and Rondo seems to be very much on the same page, and Rondo has made zero indications that he is not in on this rebuild. Quite the opposite, actually.

And as several already have mentioned: The Celtics have made Rondo team captain. Unless that is a pretty cruel joke, that means that the franchise wants him to stay.

Yup, Rondo being named Captain is a fairly huge indicator that he's not going anywhere for the time being.  I don't think that even Danny Ainge would be so callous as to name him team captain and then be desperately trying to move him within a month.

The Captain is staying.

Naming captain is stevens decision , not ainge

Ainge will make a trade if overpaid. Only teams that wont ever trade their players no matter what they back are, okc with durant, mia with james, wade, pacers with george, NO with davis

I think it's much more likely that Ainge and Stevens made that decision together.

If you were the Pacers would you turn down James or Durant for George?

hard decision while George is younger imagine James and Hibbert that'd be nasty

That's because you don't understand how well he does other things, or how those other things can affect a game. And that's a horrible return for Rondo. A couple of average or worse players? Right now Gordon and Evans are in their 5th and 6th years, so what you see is pretty close to what you get. Which, for those two, hasn't been all that much.
Those two actually get worse as time goes on.

If the Celts can land another superstar (like Melo) to pair up with Rondo, then yes….I would more than embrace Rondo as our captain (not like he needs my approval, lol.)

Going back to Melo, after reading the link below, I think Ainge should try to cash in now!!

Green, Sully and draft picks to NYC for Melo and Stat's contract
http://prosportsdaily.com/articles/new-york-knicks-may-trade-carmelo-anthony-before-deadline-285387.html

A team with Rondo/Melo and a halfway decent center is more than likely going to win an NBA title (IMO.)
