That is the laziest column I have read in a while. He could have written most of it in September and just brushed it off for Rondo's return.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Rondo ain't getting traded in all likelihood, no matter how much the haters want him to be.

You don't name a Celtic team captain, and then trade him!  That was Danny's way of trying to put an end to all the speculation. Apparently it didn't work!

It wouldn't make sense to trade for all that contract when the next couple seasons we are rebuilding DA may want to play in the FA market. And If DA wants to lure FA's I would think Rondo would be a better lure than Evans and Gordon.

Unless DA is getting a crap ton of picks with a trade like that, then it makes a little more sense. DA is loving the picks!!!

DA doesn`t strike me as a guy who sells low....

Rondo has just returned from a very serious injury and ,even if it`s not directly comparable situations, getting injured again like Bryand and Rose  is a possbility in everyones mind.

So i guess his value is pretty low now.
...........but on the other hand who knows how a gm`s mind works ?????

THIS...is a list of the Celtics team Captains. Ainge has been GM since 2003?...no? There has been 1 single captain in Ainge's tenure.

The bolded ones were under Red's and Ainge's tenure. I think folks greatly greatly underestimate Danny and Wyc's attempt at restoring a Dynasty. However unlikely that may seem they appear to want to go that way and this reflects that. R.R. will have to balk and walk away from the table to be gone and to be honest i think he doesn't and that surprise naming was a coordinated move by Ainge and I think it will work.

1950-63: Bob Cousy
1963-69: Bill Russell
1969-78: John Havlicek
1978-80: Dave Cowens
1980-92: Larry Bird

1992-93: Reggie Lewis
1993-94: Robert Parish
1994-95: Dee Brown and Dominique Wilkins
1995-96: Dee Brown
1996-97: Rick Fox
1997-98: Dee Brown, Pervis Ellison and Antoine Walker
1998-99: Antoine Walker
1999-2000: Antoine Walker and Dana Barros
2000-03: Antoine Walker and Paul Pierce
2003-13: Paul Pierce
2013-14: Rajon Rondo

List of GM's
Walter A. Brown (1946–1951)
Red Auerbach (1951–1984)
Jan Volk (1984–1997)
Chris Wallace (1997–2007)
Danny Ainge (2007–present)

oooops. 2007. My point still stands. He was the director of Basketball operations since 2003

Yeah I read that too.

Sad they call that journalism.

Amico is pretty awful too.

That's how I feel about the situation as well. If he were to be traded it would have to be shortest term as captain in NBA history and that just looks ridiculous.

Not many players out there. Teams are looking to unload white elephants or players  that I would not want to build on  most are old,  getting old ,  been injury prone,  not mentally tuff ,  bad contracts etc.   Danny is not  going for that HUGE group of rejects without a lottery draft pick .

The few players that make sense for Danny as future , the teams are hesitant to trade ......at least at the moment .

I look for DA to make a play for Love  as many GMs will .   Some sort of offer anyway .   He'd be dumb not to.   I don't think Wolves will let him walk for nothing.  Lesson learned with Howard and LBJ

Not seeing a Rondo trade as necessary or benefit unless its a deal DA can't say no to.

Only way that makes sense if DA has 2 players he would target in the draft. Than maybe he would trade Rondo for young pieces he believes in and a lotto pick. Still I don't see it, more likely keep Rondo and make a play for Love, Hayward, etc.

Illogical article based on nothing. Suggesting Phoenix as a destination shows how little the writer knows about basketball.

Probably just a misleading or inaccurate tidbit from an out-of-the-loop writer who had to fill his Sunday column.

But it could potentially fit with Danny trying to get Rondo resigned--and maybe moving him if he can't.
