Considering the only time any of these rumors were legit were when Ainge wanted Chris Paul or Westbrooke,  I think it's pretty safe to say Rondo isn't getting moved easily.  Literally Ainge is asking for another grade A superstar for Rondo.

Probably just a misleading or inaccurate tidbit from an out-of-the-loop writer who had to fill his Sunday column.

But it could potentially fit with Danny trying to get Rondo resigned--and maybe moving him if he can't.

wait and see what happens. I'd like to keep and build around rondo.

I thought RR looked like a guy on the mend still.   I don't see other teams knocking each other over for him given his status.

Let me preface with this. As many on this board, I don't think Rondo will (or should) be traded unless Trader Danny gets a Godfather offer.

That being said, I would have to think long and hard about this trade using the players mentioned in the silly article:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=o5ddcpg

Cs Outgoing: Wallace/Rondo/Bogans

Cs Incoming: Gordon/Evans plus some kind of pick from NO, or Austin Rivers as both the pick or Rivers works

We get rid of Wallace's contract and get younger and more athletic with much more firepower. Now we just need a strong defensive center.

NO gets their star to go with their budding star in Anthony Davis but swallowing Wallace is the price they have to pay for that.

We can give them their hometown boy in Bass rather than Bogans if they so desire to shore up their hole with Ryan Anderson out.

We end up with:

Evans/Pressey/Bayless
Gordon/Bradley/Rivers
Green/Evans/Smith
Sully/KO/BB
Hump/Fav/Anthony

Some very interesting combinations on the floor are possible with that group.

And, we still have Hump, Green and Bass to acquire more assets.

That team has everything you need to contend, other than high level talent. Good teams would swat them like flies in a playoff series. You could argue that Sully's the only player on the roster with a good chance of being an all-star unless Gordon somehow manages to make one.

Your comment on Gordon and its implication are right on.

IFGordon stays healthy, he can be that star. He got 35 Wednesday night against the Rockets. He could be a star, our James Harden.

I know that's a big "IF" though.

But his 14 mil is only 4 more mil than Wallace. I'd rather take the chance with Gordon.

Being an All-Star is biased towards scoring.  You could put together a team of five players who will never average 20ppg who are better than Gordon.

The implication that he might somehow manage to be a fringe all-star? I'd rather have Gordon than Wallace as well, but not at the expense of a player that's much better than Gordon.

Disagree, that's a pretty good return for Rondo.

Plus didn't Rondo miss a key three pointer at the end of the game on Friday? (admittedly I didn't see the game.)

Guess I'll still never understand the love for a point guard that can't shoot.

That is the laziest column I have read in a while. He could have written most of it in September and just brushed it off for Rondo's return.

It's dated January 18, 2014

You're right. I should find a better way to phrase "is very unlikely to ever be one of the top players on a contending team". Just being an all-star isn't enough, and Gordon isn't even at that level so far.

That's because you don't understand how well he does other things, or how those other things can affect a game. And that's a horrible return for Rondo. A couple of average or worse players? Right now Gordon and Evans are in their 5th and 6th years, so what you see is pretty close to what you get. Which, for those two, hasn't been all that much.

Well that settles it then. Miss a three pointer in your first game back from an ACL tear? You're outta here, chump!
