Rondo looked pretty good in his first game in about 20 mins. With all the moves that Danny has made getting all these draft picks and assets I cant think of him trading Rondo. He will help out with winning some games. I still see this team as a 25 win team with Rondo.Going to be a great few weeks to watch the Celtics play. Still need to play a complete game.

Well, Rondo was just named captain...so,he's going nowhere... I'm guessing another trade is coming soon...Green, Bass, Humphries---one has to go----we can't afford to NOT get a top 5 pick.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

I would love to Get rid of Bass and or Hump. The Knicks are in some need of some big bodies wonder if Danny tries to unload them on the Knicks.

This team is stuck at its current level till it gets a real scorer to replace Pierce.

Obviously Rondo knows how to play the game.  But he looked huge and slow out there.  Not dogging him and I understand but it was kinda shocking nonetheless.

I want to be optimistic, but I don't see any silver lining as of right now. Bass and Green can probably get better returns than what some have suggested, but it'd take luck and perfect timing. And I'm not expecting to strike gold with this draft like others. I don't see Anthony Davis changing the scope of the EC.

I hope Rondo stays, if for no other reason than he is a player I enjoy watching and am proud to root for. I'm good with that right now. I'm gonna reiterate till I'm 60 that we got lucky with KG... via McHale.

I thought his lateral movement looked bad.   What I am wondering is how much the brace plays into that.

Rondo looked like a guy that was coming off a major knee injury and hasn't played competitive ball in a calendar year.  I know some people thought he would just show up and be the All-Star caliber player but that's not realistic. Cut the guy some slack, he is going to need some time to get his game back.  Just nice to have him back out there....

Exactly. I remember watching Jordan when he first came back after over a year, and he looked slow and out of it, and he didn't have an injury.

Some of if is still mental, it took him a bit to want to go into the paint, and he didn't attack the boards like he usually does.

Also this is his preseason. Most guys all look the same during preseason so its hard to tell if they are a bit slow, but when every one has been playing for months and are int he middle of the season, he's going to look a step slow. Plus the game is probably moving a little fast for him right now.

I'd give it a least ten games for him to start looking good consistently. He needs to get game confidence in the knee, and then get to the point were he doesn't have to think to play. His second stint of his  minutes last night was much better than the first. Got the butterflies and cobwebs off.

started bad but finished strong IMO. Even with rondo we need two more all stars to win a title IMO. Could sully be one? possibly, but we need a homerun in the draft and then via a trade to make sure we acquire those needs.
LET'S GO CELTICS!

The remainder of this season for Rondo is to get his court confidence back and learn Brad Stevens system.  Its not to win games.  Then he enters camp at full strength with some experience in the system and his knee back at full strength for next season.  Thats whats up.

1. Let Rondo work through getting back in game shape without pushing things to limit for remainder of year.

2. Trade off a few more of our role players to help contending teams or ones on brink of playoffs and get more assets back. Financial flexibility and draft picks going forward is key

3. Secure a top 5 draft pick while continuing to grow our young one's(Sully/Olynyk)

4. Danny makes dream trade utilizing those beautiful draft picks during next season as Love/Aldridge threaten to leave their organizations

5. Contend for playoffs next year and championship in 2-3 years with Rondo leading the point, our new star draft pick fitting right in, Sully and Olynyk continuing to rise to stardom and a veteran superstar who could not win in Minny or Portland pushing us over the top.

  Or the knee surgery.

An aside, but do those braces really need to be that bulky? Can't they borrow some of the people that design basketball-sized golf club heads that weigh a couple of ounces for a week or two and come up with something better?

While I certainly think Ainge will entertain offers for Bass, Green, and even Bradley, I don't think he's in a rush to do anything.  I think he'll be happy to go into the draft with the picks that we have and see what sort of offers he gets.  If someone offers us an established superstar for picks and prospects, he'll probably take it.  If not, he'll probably look to draft well, continue to develop the young talent, and see where that gets him in terms of homegrown talent to keep or assets to deal.

But really, I think while Ainge is going through all his options, I think he's largely rolling with the punches and seeing what the best deals are given the circumstances.
