Sources have expressed to Liberty Ballers that Philadelphia is stepping back from any trade negotiations for Thaddeus Young, and attempting to push a package of Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes. The source also went on to say that a few teams have shown interest, although rather minute, and no deal is close to imminent.

Coincidentally, Turner + Hawes ($13.2 mil) matches Humphries' expiring salary. If Philly doesn't want to take back salary commitments beyond this year, Boston could potentially step in and broker a deal.

They're not going to want an expiring, both come off the books this year. They must be looking for assets and or picks.

Not sure why they would want more pick, they have two picks this year most likely both in the lotto. They'd have a very young and potentially good team, but at some point they will all want max contracts.

It would be nice if DA could land these guys, make Green redundant, but we'd actually have a some what decent center for once.

How is Turner more versatile scorer? He's a 2 point jump shooter almost exclusively and doesn't get to the line as much per FGA. He's a less efficient offensive player too.

Turner is better defensive rebounder and gets 2 more assists per 36 for an additional turnover. Not really an upgrade.

Green is, but only for two more years. If Turner says, "Pay me 40 over 4, 'cause I'm worth it,"* that could be a problem.

*Turner's said as much in the media, I believe.

Now in his 4th year (and 25 years old),it’s safe to say that we have a good idea of what Turner is.  If you’re going to give 25+% of your possessions to one player, you want that player to be better than Evan Turner; if Evan Turner is getting less than 25% of a team’s possessions, it doesn’t appear he can be effective. In other words, he fits within that second group of players who have no place in the Sixers immediate or medium-term plans, but might have some value to another team at a different stage in its development.

Everything that Sam Hinkie has said since taking over as GM has indicated that he is committed to building a championship-caliber team. Evan Turner will likely demand too much money to be a smart buy for a Sixers team looking toward short-term flexibility and long-term contention.
