Forget next year, I hope the Sixers sneak in the playoffs this year! Sixers for 8th seed!

Looks like Rondo really is ready to go. That... or we really are tanking.

I assume its the latter....

Not really a fan of paying Joel Anthony $3.8 MM to get what will eventually end up being a second round pick. We aren't really going to need all those seconds consider how many firsts we have.
I'm thinking stockpiles of picks go out for sign and trades of incoming players over the next couple off seasons.Send 1st & 2nd round packages(with players) out to Minnesota and Memphis for Marc Gasol and Kevin Love, adding Love and Gasol to Rondo, Bradley and this year's first round selection(Parker, Wiggens, Gordon).

That would be ... awesome.

It will be interesting to see what else Danny has going on...

We now have two roster spots open and our once crowded backcourt has become barren.

They're playing the current 8 seed tonight (the Bobcats) and have one less loss than we do.  It's not totally out of the question, although it's unlikely.  If we could package our Atlanta pick in the low 20s (ugh) and the 15th pick, we might be able to move up a few spots

So the Philly 1st is going to be a 2nd if they don't make the playoffs this year or the next.

Two 2nds if I'm reading it correctly - 2015 and 2016.

Essentially two 2nd rounders rom Philly.
I believe there is also a 2nd round pick from Miami.
So, three total.

Correct. We get the PHI 2014 first AND a future 2nd from MIA

Just a little LOL.

Bill Simmons' dad does not approve.

Per Bill Simmons' Twitter

My dad: "I liked watching Crawford, he played hard. We turned him into some 2nd round picks and helped Miami? Oh great! That trade sucked!"

My dad: "You're 3,000 miles away, you don't care. Im a season ticket holder, I'm the one that has to watch Phil Pressey + Joel Anthony now!"

Mr. Simmons, we are set for the future. Endure Pressey and Anthony for now.  ;D

From reading the other team's forums, this seems like a rare trade which makes every fanbase happy. Warriors could not wait to get rid of Douglas, Miami desperately needed as much cap space as possible and we get picks.

I remember reading a couple years ago that Ainge had a somewhat bad relationship with other GMs because they always thought he was trying to con them. I'm glad he can make these type of trades where everyone's happy because it makes communication with other GMs for future trades a lot easier I would imagine.

Before reading about the protections I was doing cartwheels. I suppose it's a fair trade but there was a period early in the season where it seemed like Crawford might be able to fetch a little more, like say a guaranteed late first rounder.

Why is Miami doing this though?  Isn't Anthony and a pick more useful than Tony Douglas to them?

Joel Anthony has played 37 minutes this season.  All their center minutes are going to Bosh and Chris Andersen and they have Greg Oden waiting in the wings.

Great trade by Danny in my humble opinion.

Two questions--

First... Say by the stroke of luck Philly made the playoffs this year and we were gifted three firsts around 15-25. How far up in the draft could one reasonably expect to move?

Second... I understand Anthony's contract is a player option at 3.8 for next year. However, if we buy him out by a certain date and he signs with another team this season does that negate his player option? Meaning if we waive him he might as well be an expiring?

Anyone who knows the CBA more than I do, I would love an elaboration.

I wonder who's next to be traded... If Danny can get rid of Wallace before the deadline, I will name my first son after him.

Yeah, I'm with Bill's dad--it's a great deal until you realize you're going to have to watch the games.

Never been to Waltham. Does it have a revolving door out front  :P

From a purely aesthetic point of view, I don't like this move.  Joel is really hard to look at.

Danny stockpiling picks for a big trade???
