February 13th, 2013: Rondo gets surgery

January 17th, 2014: home game vs. Lakers

338 days between those dates.

338 days = 29,233,380 secs

Oh, wow. I'll take this as an unofficial confirmation from Rajon himself he plans on a Friday return.

Oh, great, now Sherrod's going to put this on Twitter: "Sources say Rondo has unofficially confirmed a Friday return against the Lakers"
Hey, that's good reporting s/

Anyone want to try and decrypt that?

This should be its own thread. No? Seems like the biggest news of the season so far...not that we've had all that much...

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
It would be nice for the organization to cash in on his return a little bit. It's also his style to grab the spotlight whilst pretending to not notice :)

Good publicity, just hope he doesn't ball too hard with the adrenaline flowing.

Glad to see him back but bittersweet not knowing what direction the franchise is going. I would like Bass, Crawford and Humphries gone already so I can relax till lottery night.

1)Guess on how many minutes he plays?
2)Does he start?

3 TP's for guessing his minutes correctly.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Jeff Green play with Rondo. Hopefully he'll get him the ball more. He needs way more touches and shots. *hoping to see a 20 ppg  rebound Jeff Green in the second half of the season*.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Rondo's return

Funny way to hint at a return. Thought on it actually happening?

Seems far off from the ASG period but he has improved greatly since December according to him.

Either way, we are close to his return, can't wait!
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I figured someone picked this up, just didn't see it.

I just hope he's ready to go all out and not limited. otherwise it's pointless for him to come back now.

...which leads me to think the only reason to have him come back is for showcasing purposes.

He's going to be limited. Aside from coming off of knee surgery, he hasn't played competitive basketball in nearly a year. Anyone expecting him to pick up where he left off is placing unrealistic expectations on him.

The point of him returning is because it's part of his rehab. Playing in a game and not having any setbacks is the final step of rehab for him. Sitting out the season or longer than he needs to doesn't benefit him in any way.

Well Rondo already said he's not going to be playing long minutes when he first come back. It's been a yr since he played..he's going to be limited and it's not pointless because he has to get real playing time to truly trust his knee.
